This is an incredible car and the power delivery is nothing short of amazing! The ride is fantastic without it being overly soft, yet able to handle the twisties fairly well (coming from an all Porsche guy).

My girlfriend loves that her teeth aren't getting rattled loose in one of my cars anymore!

Sounds like a good deal.

Did your purchase price include the $1500 holiday cash back?

Did you order the car, or buy it off the lot?

Congrats on your purchase!

Joe,

It was including the $1500 cash back so the bottom line price I showed was all inclusive.

I was looking for a fully loaded up 535 with drivers assistance/M sport/ P2/ Convenience package but came up empty. This 550 sprung up and with the discount the dealership was giving me, I decided to live a little!

Is it just me or does the car have an endless amount of features?

I learned most of the features just by playing around but how do you cancel route guidance on nav?

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Good for you!
You got a great deal... 11% off of MSRP.

That's a few points better than I'm able to swing in my region.

Happy new year!

Wow, a deal like that almost makes me want to consider buying a car with US delivery. Did you get the 0.9% financing too? That could add a couple more grand too your savings tally. Congrats.

or 'Stop Guidance'

Or, on the Nav screen, push the iDrive controller once to the left to highlight the vertical "options" icon list. Topmost icon is guidance on/off. Twist the controller to select the top icon and press. Then confirm "stop guidance" when the next screen is presented. Similar to shut off the voice guidance. It's the 2nd icon from the top. Also note the triangle icon, 3rd from bottom. If that is red, it means there is specific traffic in your way. Select that and it will list the pertinent items in order of mileage from where you are. This only works when guidance mode is active. My suggestion is to activate split screen mode. Traffic items will be shown on a map to the right as you select them with a "1" and "2" showing the beginning and end of traffic issues. Also activate the item that pops up major highway exit info and you'll get an image of the exit lanes on the right side of the screen as you approach the exit. There are many cool features on the Nav.

Thanks everyone. The split screen info was very helpful!

I did get the .9% also.

I usually keep the entertainment info on the right side. Like I said, the exit lane images will pop up and override the entertainment info. BTW, did you also know you can have "arrow view", ETA time and ETA distance items on the small multi-function screen on the dash (between speedo and tach)? These become additional items you can scroll to when guidance is enabled. The arrow view also shows lane markings and small triangles in which lanes to be in as you approach large highway splits, etc.

I've attached an image of the arrow view and the pop-up lane image.

Thanks Mark!

How do you get the flow traffic showing on the Nav like yours?

I tried everything, and have all traffic settings on but I cannot get the flow of traffic to show up like you have on yours Mark...any hints?

Thanks!

That right screen is not flow of traffic. It tells you what lane you should be in when exiting. It only shows when an exit is approaching

I think he means the gray triangles on the main map. This is the Real Time Traffic Info (RTTI), which is shown only when you have guidance active, meaning, the Nav has your route activated and is telling you how to go. Then the RTTI info shows up. RTTI is automatically received from background (hidden) FM stations to the radio and used by Nav.

RTTI shows up on my 2010 E60 even without the guidance enabled. You just have to select map.

So far I've been convinced, at least on my F10, that RTTI is only active in guidance mode. If I'm on the way to work and see the triangles for traffic, then stop guidance, the info is gone. Do you mean that you always get the traffic indicators on whatever route your Nav is showing, regardless of whether you're in active guidance? When you say "select map", could you elaborate? I already have checked "show traffic" (or whatever the option is) in iDrive -- so I am getting it as I showed in my picture. Maybe there is something else I need to do.

Your color combination is what I am considering as first choice. Can you please post some pictures exterior and interior when you get a chance. I haven't seen one with M Sport package in my area.

Enjoy your new car.

not to hijack the thread but you can select traffic info and if you have split screen enabled, it shows up on the right with both flow of traffic and accident/slowdown info. You can zoom into the area or zoom out. Also under interactive map, if you click right on the idrive, it gives you an option to show that info also.

Thanks for the pictures. The car looks great in white. I was wondering what the M Sport would look like at the back. I think the black rear valance looks a bit odd against the white. What are your thoughts? Can it be painted white??

fkim011
01-02-2011, 02:48 PM
I actually think the contrast on the lower rear diffuser on the M sport package is what makes the car especially with the smoked out rear exhaust tips it comes with.

It surely can be painted white but it looks better with the contrast. Too bad it's not raw carbon fiber in the back with a nice carbon fiber splitter in the front like the M3 CSL.

I'm sure you are right. It is just hard to tell from a photo. I agree a carbon fibre effect would look nice.
