I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it.

I have a 2009 E60 5er with the iphone cradle in the armrest. The iphone cradle is obviously the snap-in kind that inserts into the base cradle. I've modified the iphone cradle to accept an iphone 4. I've also ordered the smartphone integration (6NF) in my new F10.

Although I'm guessing that it won't, does anyone know whether the iphone cradles for the E60 will "snap in" to the smartphone integration in the F10? I'd really like to keep my cradle especially since it works with my iphone 4. Not to mention the fact that I won't have to spend another $150 or so for a new one when and if one is released.

Do you have the part #? Is it 84.21-2 158 683? I just bought one off eBay and afterwards I found out that it works only on pre-Sept builds on the old Combox, but not the new 6NF. Apparently they are coming out with a new model. BMW just updated their website to reflect that. Luckily I only paid $50 for it.

Here's the part # for the new cradle.. 84 21 9 229 004

No, mine is 84. 10-9 182 792 - i.e., I think that it's the iphone 3 (not 3g) cradle. Anyway, sounds like it won't work. Interestingly, BMW USA appears to have removed the iphone cradles from the 5-series accessories website. I wonder if that means that a cradle for the iphone 4 will be coming out shortly? In any event, thanks for the help.

Received delivery in August and ordered 6NF Smartphone integration and snap in cradle. 6NF provides connector for center console from USB to Iphone connection. When plugging in 3GS iPhone, all music can be accessed via IDrive. Phone connects via bluetooth. Snap in cradle would not work for 3GS, only 3G. Dealer took it back without a problem.

After 4 months, find phone connection via bluetooth excellent. Only use music function via 6NF connector during longer trips.

Hi there,

I have 523i full option Middle East edition.
I would like to know what is the difference between the following:
1. snap-in for iphone.
2. the Y shape cradle
3. the simple USB cable for iphone.

I'm simply using the white USB cable for iphone and plugged it into the USB plug under the armrest.

I can hear my music and browse my playlist using iDrive. and make my calls using the bluetooth function.

so what's the point of having (1) and (2) from above list?

(1) will have the phone using the car's external aerial. Better reception and less radiation for you.

I'm looking for a 3GS cradle for my 2/11 build 535 with 6NF, what part number do I need to use the roof antenna and access media on my phone?
