Parking heater (Standheizung) VS Residual Heat

Parking heater seems to be available only in EU cars. It's an option where heat is generated from the fuel system or a separate standalone heater. This will allow to have warm air right when you start the engine or if programmed to heat the car in advance.

The residual/auxiliary heat in US cars uses remaining heat of the engine after shut off. So it doesn't generate new/additional heat and therefore can't warm up a car that is cold.

Wondering why we don't get the parking heater option in the US.

If anybody knows about an aftermarket option, please post it in a reply.

There's probably some regulatory, liability, and "Americans are too dumb to use it properly" coming together. Although it's a great feature, I would keep it out of the US market as well, although the Canadians should deserve it because of their climate.
