I am brand new to the forums and I need some help. I am in the Air Force and I am about to move to Germany. Once I get there, I plan to pick up a used BMW as my second car. It needs to be 4 doors and large enough to fit my 6 foot 7 brother in the back seat, it has to be as fast as possible, and it has to cost under $25k USD. The two cars that I am lookin at right now are the E65 760i (not the Li) and the e60 545i. Here is the information that I know (everything EU spec).

760i: 445 HP, 442 Torque, 4442 lbs, 9.98 lbs/HP, 5.2 0-60, 13.6 1/4 mile, $19-30k+ cost in USD
545i: 333 HP, 330 Torque, 3604 lbs, 10.82 lbs/HP, 5.4 0-60, 13.7 1/4 mile, $16-26k cost in USD

I plan to use the car as my primary road trip car and to carve up the mountain roads in the Alps. The 760i is bigger so it will have more room and be more comfortable but it will also be harder to manage on the smaller European back roads; does anyone have any EU driving experience that can comment on the sizes of the cars? Will the 12 inch longer wheelbase and 2 inches in the width make all that much difference? Is the 545i big enough?

The 760i also appears to be faster in a straight line but will the 545i be faster in the mountains?

Please let me know what you all think and thank you for your help,
-Jon

If you just want the car for use in Europe you can get a euro spec car. Every military base has a "lemon lot" where servicemen buy and sell cars when they PCS. The prices tend to be higher than you might think so you may need to down grade your expectations a bit. I doubt a 6'7'' person would be happy in the back of a 5 series. As I recall from my time in Germany, most service members with BMW's had a 3 or 5 series, 7's were much less common.
