What do you guys think of the smart car? I don't know too much about either the smart or the MINI, but after visiting Paris and seeing smarts all over the place, I'm beginning to think I might want one. I might move to NYC in a few years, in which case I think I'd want to have a small car (everyone says not to own a car in the city, but I don't think I could help myself). The smart car is even smaller than the MINI, no? I wonder how it'd hold up on I-95...

Anyway, just wondering about opinions. Hopefully by 2006 or so, smart will be in the US. :)

Smarts are great around town being nippy of the line and easy to park.
Only 2 seats
not great on long distances
plastic panels easy to change and no dents.

its difficult to compare them they sit in differing market sectors in the uk.

I'd buy a smart as a run it into the ground type vehicle, the mini I would prbably care about.

What are the different marketing sectors? smart is more economy?

A new SMART model is coming, the ForFour. I have seen it at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It's a for door-for seats body concept.

SMART is a great city car, if you are living in metropolitan area where parking is an issue. This thing will fit in any gap . It has very good fuel consumption, due to its low emmissions, I think they are exempt from tax for the first 5 years too.

I have heard that the market entry for USA is 2006.
