My ZHP is at the dealer for an Inspection I. Asked them to look into the surge problem and they are (And being very nice about it I might add, keep the loaner overnight etc). But what exactly is causing it?

DME needs to be updated. I think the root cause of the issue is that the DME doesn't gracefully handle aging O2 sensors

Thanks...and that makes perfect sense. But, the car did this since new? Or newish anyway...

Hmm, I'm not sure... my old ZHP did have the same issue and an update to the DME fixed it. I was told it was the O2 thing, and I took it as fact since it made sense (I didn't own that car since new, so I have no idea what it was like before I had it). It is entirely possible that there is a different root cause

They seem to have fixed it...but nobody seemed to know how. Duh? Anyway, didn't cost me anything.
