I found some wheels that I am considering buying, but I need to know if I can even use them. They are 19 x 9, all 4 of them. I have a 325 SP. Can I even put these tires on and be ok without any modification to the car? Also what size tires should I be looking at if I can use these wheels? Any help would be appreciated.

I'll add :

I'd say 245/35R19 rear instead of 255/35R19 rear. Even 245/35R19 may need some fender rolling in the rear to fit.

Travis, if you're getting 19s, I hope you're lowering it. It won't look that great if you don't.

I was thinking about it Phil. What do you recommend I look for?

If you're going for the most "cost effective" way not to totally screw up your ride & handling, get an H&R Cup Kit for about $700 (plus about $300-$500 for installation). It has that :bigpimp: drop, comes with matched shocks and springs, many people use it without any problems and it's from H&R. The ride is supposed to be on the harsh side, but hey, you're going for the 19" bling, so what do you care? :p :D

Whatever you do, if you get new springs, get new shocks at the same time.

I'm probably going with Bilstein PSS9 coilovers or the Eibach Pro Kit & Pro Dampers when I do my suspension in a couple years. I'm sticking with 18" wheels due to weight.

19" Hamanns with H&R Cup Kit...

Man, ride ina car with H&R Cup kit before you buy. From what I have heard VERY harsh.

The most cost effective and GOOD suspension is Ground Control. There basic kit is $999 and gives you the adjustability of the H&R or PSS9, with springs matched to what youwant out ofhte car (ride, handling, race car).

BTW Ground Control is doing a great side line business converting peoples PSS9s to quality Eibach srpings. Tell you anything? :)

Travis,

I wouldn't lower your car, the ride is much harsher, I've driven someone's E46 and I don't think i could live with that suspension for more then 20 minutes. . .

Also if your going with 19's, consider the fact that your car is going to be slower, I don't know how much research you've done on it but I think you know I did a ton on it and have driven my car with probably 8 different sets of wheels.

Also 19 x 9 I would think would be too wide for the front to handle . . .what wheels are you looking to get ?

19s would be horrible on Louisiana roads.

Plus, they look ridiculous.

the roads in our city aren't bad, they are actually good. It's only down in N.O. that they are bad :)

I realize the car will be slower. I'm not trying to increase performance by adding wheels :) I'm also not sure which ones I want yet, and what size. 19 x 9 would be the biggest possible that I would look at, I would rather 19 x 8.5, but I'm completely undecided on which wheels I want or if I really want to get some because I will only have my car another year and a half.

would you recommend getting some prices on them from a dealer or can I get them cheaper by ordering them from a place on the internet?

Definitely call around, and then promptly run to your computer and order from the internet. :p Don't know how much you'll save, but list price for 18x8's is supposedly $520, so I'm sure there's room for a discount. If I were stuck on getting OE wheels, I'd consider refinished wheels as well (clicky (http://www.wheelcollision.com/bmw2.html)) but they're still $300-350 each.

Pacific BMW might have some good prices on the type 71's but I would check ebay and the variuous internet boards to see if you could find a used set first. Just make sure they aren't replica's

I've been looking for M68s. Looks like $1100 plus shipping from them. Do you think their wheels are just refinished, or maybe repaired (as in previously bent)? I wonder how stable a wheel like that would be in the long term. Any thoughts?

Possibly either repaired or refinished. Supposedly they are as good as new. I remember Car and Driver had a long term E36 M3 that had really soft rims--they were repaired and worked fine.
