View Full Version : Registration Update

Cars: 340 -- Attendees: 806 as of this evening.

If I had to go out on a limb and forecast/predict the final numbers,
I'd say that we'll go well over 500 vehicles this year, pushing
4 digits, and a couple of thousand participants. We have well
over 2 months to go, and the registration rate curve is getting steeper!
:eeps:

At least we know that we'll have enough room for everyone this year!!

wow, that sure is a lot of people this early. :yikes: will there be a 'limit' on the # of attendees or cars? I wonder if it gets TOO big, it'll somehow be too chaotic...?

Gotta keep the yutes under control, you know :D

Just curious, it was cool to see that last year.

Non-BMWs are not going to be let in. We have an "overflow" lot for all non BMWs. The main lots are bimmers only!

Hello folks :hi: ,
Just purchased our first Bimmer 3-series, and just found out about BimmerFest  .
Have registered for the fest, and am really looking forward to it.
To late to get room at the fest  , but would like to come down on Saturday, May 1.
Will we still be able to get in on Saturday and park with the others?
Have not seen any price listings or costs for the event on any of the posts, other than room and board. What other costs involved (other than the vendors and their great stuff)?

Really sorry we could not meet up with the caravan from the north, maybe next year.
We look forward to attending

Realistic question of the day. How many ACTUAL cars can fit in that lot?

So we're pushing 2k bodies at this point. Accounting for the usual -25% no-shows, and the +50% walk-ons, we're looking at something like 2500 to 3000 people on the day of the fest.

:wow:

This has got to be the biggest single BMW event in N. America. Exceeds Octoberfest if my memory serves. YOWZA!!!

Parking spaces and open spaces in general are always in short supply in the Santa Barbara area. The Earl Warren Showgrounds has over 1000 parking spaces on the 34 acre site. With open space also at a premium locally, the Parking Lots at the showgrounds are also available to rent for special events. The parking lots at Earl Warren have been used for fairs, carnivals, circus, car shows and community public service events. Parking lot rentals are by quote.

That's good and all, but I imagine all of us would want to be at the main lot #2. So the actual parking spaces in reality will be a lot less than that. I estimate about 850 even if we add in lot 1, 3, and 4. We'll hit that number easy just by current estimates. And Lot 5 seems too far away from everythingelse.

Anyways, this is a good problem to have

3 and 4 are freaking tiny. <150 between those two.

1 is only on the other side from the driveway from 2, so it's not like it's out in BFE.

'Official' registration for SoCalEuro+NorCalVW was around the 900 mark, and 1 didn't come close to being filled.

I'm a little confused about where to enter the event? When getting of the freeway do I make a right and the #2 entrance will be there? i'm so confused

somebody should make a model designation area with this map and hand them out at the entrance:

http://www.earlwarren.com/ews_pages_html/parkinglot_diagram.html

Because I think it would be nice to park next to owners of the same body style, since that is what people look forward to......so nobody feels lonely......because you know, there is always that one guy that knows nobody!

There is no way we can manage parking people by model....parking will be done by time of arrival.

That is really too bad.
It would be nearly impossible to do this given the venue and the shear volume of cars that will be arriving. This is something we have talked about trying to do next year when we have the time to plan it out but for this year the cars will be parked based on arrival time. There will also be parking attendants to point people in the right direction so you won't have to worry about knowing where to go once you enter the showgrounds.

Tim, you know as well I do, you "can't" make "everybody" happy.
With all the events I help with or put together, there's always people that aren't satisfied, so just go about doing the best you can do and that's all you can do.
I, as well others will be there Sat. morning to help out, so I will see you then.
Keep up the great work, I've talk to Jon a few times and he tells me you guys are doing an awesome job!

We will be parking people by the order they arrive....if you and your E21 buddys get there together you can park together, otherwise it will be in the order you arrive.

It is not possible for us to leave spaces with 1000+ bimmers coming.

...well for the ancy folks: we could always stage our cars in whatever hotel/motel parking lot we're staying at (or any nearby parking lot for that matter), then slowly begin to depart after 9am for the fairgrounds.

All right! Thanks Tim! Now I know that I can sleep in for an extra hour on Saturday. I didn't want the pressure to feel that I had to arrive early anyway. This makes it easy. :snooze:

Yeah, right... Since you're telling eveyone to "hold off" till 9, guaranteed there's gonna be at least 50+ Bimmers (most likely including myself) there RIGHT at 9am sharp! I don't see how we can avoid a traffic jam with so many that will want to get there early for at least one or all of these reasons: get a "good" spot; park with buddies; "avoid the traffic" :D
