It's time for the snows to come off. My 17" AVS Sports are worn. What's a good replacement tire? The AVS were good, but were too LOUD. I was thinking about the ES100, but people here seem to have had negative experience with those. What's a good alternative? Price is a factor, of course. Thanks.

The ES100s aren't even close to being as loud as AVS Sports. The only summer tires I've heard that were louder than AVS Sports were the ancient Potenza RE71. From a price/performance perspective, I can't recommend the ES100 enough.

Ed, I don't know how many miles Kaz has on his car, but I've got approx. 7k on my
ES 100's and want them off my car NOW! :thumbdwn: :tsk:
Hell, I had a better experience with the Kumho 712's than these Yokes!
Looks like I'll be going with the Yoke db2's next, or the Bridgestone RE750's. :dunno:
After this with the Yokes, I'm leaning towards the RE750's.

Hey, I'll be happy to accept your donation of these hated tires. :)

I have 3 pairs (long story) and the ones with the most miles probably have 15k+ and just about 50% of treadlife left. IMO there are plenty of ****tier tires than these. And I'm not one to go around praising just anything either. I had a set of PZero Rossos ($$$) before these, and I REALLY HATED them. There are plenty of posts in the archives where I ***** and whine about those as much as Keith does about these Yokes.

Which tires would you recommend then? Thanks.

Uh, Kaz, I'm not whining, I'm stating a fact on "my" behalf and have read about others experiences as well.
Also, it's "wine" for me, not whine! :D

I've got a set of these on right now and so far am very pleased with the performance. Granted I was able to pick them up through work for $100, so price wasn't an issue. I'm leaving for VIR this afternoon so I may write up a track performance review when I get back.

I'd look at the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 if you want to maintain and even improve the performance, wear, traction, and noise. Those would be a very good step up on all counts. The 245/40-17 size has an availability issue right now but they would be well worth the wait.

yeah me too. :stupid: :p they would be nice to have a shave a whopping 12 lbs off the stock (assuming rk's or superleggera's) but they are pretty pricey. i'm thinking maybe p-zero nero m+s now for about 210 each or proxes 4's for about the same price but haven't heard too much about them.

i'm still deciding between rk's and oz superleggera's right now. the price diff between them is big. 450 to 360 but i like the looks of the rk's better. :(

hmm... but you have rims already? :dunno: i was checking out the OZ today. i still prefer the classic looks of the rk better but 100 more is alot for the rims. did you see the new superturismo gt's ? wow. they're cheaper than the sl's of the same size (18x8) but they're heavier. :thumbdwn: 420cad per rim
