View Full Version : Caravan from the North

A big part of Bimmerfest is it's caravans. There's really nothing like rolling down the highway with 20-30 BMWs in a line.

As much as I would like to help organize the caravans I will have to be at the venue a day or two early to help set up and organize the final details.

If anyone else would like to organize the caravan please feel free.

I cannot stress anymore that safe driving is key. Please do not ruin a spectacular event with unsafe antics on the highway. We would like everyone to arrive safely and ticket free to enjoy the days proceedings.

I don't have time to organize it, but keep me informed as I would like to rip down with whomever is going!!

Glen, You guys can use this thread to organize and keep track of where and when to meet up etc...

So really there's not much organizing that needs to be done.

I am totally game, I just have to find out if I can get the day off of work. If so just let me know where we are meeting and I will be there. As for hotel I am covered.

sstuner
04-05-2004, 08:09 PM
ok here is what i have come up with.....

we all meet at the gateway information area. thats the one just south of Edmonton with the big oil rig.

say around 2 or so, on the road by 230

cruz to red deer and pick up the crew from there.
meet at the Gasoline alley tim hortons at 4pm on the road at 430 roughly.

arrive Calgary by 6 pm.

go to the respective hotels and then go from there.

any one coming from north of edmonton it takes about an hour to get through the city if you go through downtown especially on a friday afternoon.

there are other routes that are quicker. if you need to know just give me a shout

any one have any problems/ differnt routes/plans or what have you let me know.

sstuner
04-05-2004, 08:31 PM

So are you talking about leaving on Friday or Saturday....? I'm assuming Friday.....

Either way i'm down for what you ahve planned.... it's pretty much what I had imagined...
BTW I'm in southeast edmonton... so your plan works my advantage....... :D

How many people are POSITIVE that they will in the caravan.... also I would to have lots of video from the drive down..... so bring out the video cams...... **** this gonna be soooooo much fun.......

sstuner,
Meeting at the gateway info center sounds like a good idea (I live about 10 minutes away :) )
I'm going to try to get that entire day off so I think leaving friday would be best.
Your route sounds good.

Last year my G/F and I stayed at the Hyatt downtown for 55$ a night (with an entertainment card discount). It was a really nice hotel with underground parking for an additional $10 or something. Rates may have changed but I’m just letting everyone know about my good hotel experience in Cow Town :D .

So, who is going to be in the edmonton caravan and what kind of car are you bringing? post up, we should get a head count going.
I'm be going in my 325.

Suspension. I've ordered a kit from Rob at Tunerworks. FK automotive Hightec sport supension kit. Don't know much about it but the price is right. After that I would like to paint my car. My car has the grey bumpers and side skirts.

Glenn 328is

I might have to bring the Mini. It would get way more attention then the 328is. I have to ask the wife - afterall, it is hers.....

Hi,

Been lurking for a while. If Friday is the day, I would definitely be interested in joining the caravan. With the state of hiway 2, though, we should take up both lanes and drive staggered to avoid all the rock chips on our hoods. Unless of course I can lead the caravan.

Like I said in my first post....... I have 3m blue painters tape. (almost like Masking tape but stronger n' less abrasive)..... anybody that wants it applied to their car should lemme know in advance...... http://www.wfu.edu/~farmsa3/VIR%20NASA-VA/images/Euroimage%20Professional%20Photo%202_jpg.jpg
it's the stuff on his head/fog lights......

With the tree shaped air fresner in my car (bought it at 7-11 tonight) I am ready to go. Booked a room at the Holiday Inn (http://www.calgaryplus.ca/portal/profile.do?profileID=84776) at $84.95 per night. Great deal considering that corporate rate is $139.00.

Hey guys i will try to get down to the start point with the video camera and tape some stuff of the edmonton crew taking off,

but dont wait for me to show, have to see whats going on at work tomorrow afternoon, see if i can scam out or not.

make sure you guys get lots of pics so i can relive the fest through the pics.

you guys have a wicked time

and after driving that route i dont know how many times. a few k's before the lacombe exit there is usually a cop sitting in the meridian its an uphill sweeping left turn.

gasoline alley in red deer there are usually cops just after the overpass.

the highway between olds and didsbury is pretty ****ty,

and airdre has a camaro cop car its unmarked painted white.

and when you get into calgary slow down on the deerfoot, they are going crazy there cracking down on dangerous drivers

anyway enough of that

have a good time pics pics pics.

and after this us edmonton crew should get together some time and go for a cruise.

later all i am going to be so depressed all weekend as i sit at work,

keep the shiny side up
