Hey all,

What was your experience on the day of delivery. Except giving them da ultimate check, what else should I expect from the dealer/salesman. Any horror story?? Just wanna be prepared ;)

Pretty sure my salesman will push for the extended warranty. Also pretty sure he not gonna give me my rubber mats.  He has declined anything Ive asked him to throw in.

Thanks for sharing!!!

I was in/out under an hour. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I had already given them a check a few days before. Just signed the financing papers and handed over the keys to my trade. Then we went over the manuals and keys. Walked out of the showroom and there IT was :D. Damn it looked good. ( Me, like a dumbass, never noticed it on the way in as I never expected to be in the FRONT ROW. :lmao: ) Sales advisor gave me about a 15 min tour of the car. I couldn't stop grinning (still can't). Shook hands and I left for home. I didn't want to get out .. took the long way home. Snapped a few pics at home ... went for another drive. :bigpimp:

Well mine was.:thumb: First the car was meticulously detailed, they have a great detailer. The mats were in, since it was a lease I was not focusing on whether I paid. Not even offered extended warranty-but then again I leased. Just be nice and pleasant, sign the papers and enjoy.:D

Where is your car:dunno:

Hey Vexed,

Just got back from my trip, checked BMWNA site, still says my car is en route. Dunno, its somewhere on the Atlantic ocean and is scheduled to arrive at Port HUENEME on 5/6, and then 2-6 days at the vpc, and then a week from there to here .

Patience, that's about all you can do. If you want to be really hyper you can get the Matson sailing schedule and try to see when your car might get on a boat from California. And you can start accumulating detailing supplies.:)

Detailing supplies......hmmmm, what do you suggest? So do you wash your car yourself or do you take it to a car wash? errr....I am very lazy, I used to wash/wax my car, but over the past few years Ive always taken my car to car wash.:p

Eeeeeek, no car washes for your new baby.:( If you look in the detailing forum there are threads about what to use, if you belong to Costco they have the California Water Blade, I think it is great, with that and some good terry towels you can keep the car clean. Wax is another topic, the detalier used Blitz and that's what I used a few months later. The P21S wheel cleaner is good, mail order only. Try carcareonline.com for a good start.

I know I know....how awful of me taking my new baby to carwash. We will see, at the moment I really cant see myself washing my own car, hehehe. Hey, carwashing is a guy thing.
:p

Vexed you must live in a house, I live in condo, and nope, no carwashing facilities, thats what makes it harder....

But I will sure keep an eye on those you suggested, thanks! :thumb:

Make sure you know all your options for car/key memory. I didn't know about it until I picked the car up. I believe there is something about it at E46fanatics.com FAQ. Also, check to make sure they did it right. I told my dealer to disengage the DRL but he engaged it instead. I didn't know about it until I got home. The problem is, my dealer is 60 miles away and I don't feel like driving back. I guess it is safer with the DRL's on anyways and I don't have to turn my lights on in tunnels and garages.
Try again to get free stuff like key chains, t-shirts, BMW umbrella, caps, etc... Check BMW lifestyle catalog for the stuff they have. I didn't think to ask for free stuff other than floor mats because I was too excited to go home with the car.
Good luck and enjoy.:thumb:

Thanks for the info!!! :thumb:

Went to E46fanatics.com, saw a faq about car/key options but didnt say anything about what are the options. Do you know where exactly I should go to get that information?

A real fest buddy would invite a local member over for an on site review of the detail products and maybe a little demo on application, etc.:dunno: :D

Vexed's garage look like a branch office for Car care online (www.carcareonline.com) , and don't worry about his ability to do application, he has Alee-itis :yikes: so you can get all the basic tips from him:D

Remember Vexed you are the ambassador of Aloha now's your chance to prove it:bigpimp:

Check here:
http://www.e46fanatics.com/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=16540&t=16528
Your dealer should have a form that they can fax you. It is less detailed than the E46fantatics info. You can do a search in the forums at .org or E46fantatics to find the form, too. I've seen it posted many times.

bimmee, no worries! Delivery day should be a happy day! But if you want horror stories, I've got one to share...

I was one of the unfortunate people who were subjected to the new prices for any cars that were invoiced after Dec 31st :( So even though I had ordered my car in Nov, because my delivery date would be in Jan, my stealer told me that I had to cough up and extra $555 for the car and the pkgs I had ordered. Long story short, I got lots of support from my friends, family, coworkers, and people here! Gave me enough confidence to stand up for myself and talk to the sales manager. Went in with some paperwork, and very calmly talked to him about honoring our original deal. They gave me that whole song and dance about them not being able to control what BMW does with prices...yadda yadda yadda. 45 minutes later, sales manager caved and said OK.

I had walked in so psyched to talk to the manager that I didn't even see my car parked in the showroom!  :) took a test drive, signed some papers and was on my merry little way! :bigpimp:

Have fun with your new car! Post pics when you get it!!! :thumb:

Remember to check the fuel gauge. It amazes me that salespersons somehow forget to fill the gas tank (maybe because it comes out of their own pocket?).

Keep this in mind: you have up until the point when there's both a minimum of one month **and** 1,000 miles remaining on the original (4/50) factory limited warranty *before* you have to decide if you want to buy a "service contract" (a.k.a. "extended warranty)...

My best advice would be to wait. We are expecting BMW to launch their own brand of service contracts soon, which will surely be better than some 3rd-party aftermarket ABC/XYZ warranty company's product...

Vexed, where we live rains every other day anyways. Dont expect I can keep it clean very long. When it does need a good bath, hmmmmm, maybe I'll just take it to your garage :D :D

Jon: that advice is just what I need :thumb: Thanks!!

Hey Vexed,

This is a different topic. :D Is it still true that we can write a letter to the district court instead of showing up in court for those van cam tickets?

I think so, I know if you do nothing the ticket sticks, what a fiasco that program was.:( The only downside to just submitting a writtten explanation is that you won't know for a while what happened. If you were more than 10 over the limit I think they set you for trial anyway and then the prosecutor dismisses it.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, such a waste of time.

I was going 11 over so I will have to show up twice to get it dismissed.

I hate to think how fast you will go once you get your BMW:D When you go in for the first appearance try arguing that you are contesting the ticket on the grounds that it illegally puts the burden on you to show that you were not the driver, the Judge might kick it right away, can't hurt to try.

Its fun on the mainland, I was in Vegas last week and was driving on the freeway. I was doing 5-10 miles over speed limit but still was the slowest among other cars.

The speed limits here need some adjustment.:thumbdwn:

Thanks for the advice!!
