Between the pointless $3900 package and no HUD, I'll unfortunately pick the latter.

Congrats on losing $1185, BMW. -.-

Give us HUD as a stand-alone option!

I tried unsuccessfully to order my car with a stand-alone HUD - and made the decision to pass too. Too bad, as HUD is available as a stand-alone option elsewhere in the world.

A BMW NA marketing decision:thumbdwn:

After a 2006 and a current 2010 650i both with HUD I can't imagine owning a car without a good HUD. It is a tough choice to make the way they market these cars.

:yikes: I'm surprised. You'd think you would order the car anyway you want. Sorry to hear, but good to know.

BMW isn't getting any smarter. I learned today that for the new F12 coupes, they've packaged the LEDs and 20" wheels together for $2900. On the F13s, the same 20" wheels are an option at $1300. $1600 for light bulbs?? Give me a break.

UPDATE

Effective 8-1-11 you can order the HUD as a stand-alone option on both the vert and coupe for $1,300. My car went status 150 on 8/2 and it's not clear if I was able to get the HUD included or not - if not I missed it by a day

Update: my order allowed the HUD as an option before it went to #150 today:thumbup:

I agree. I'm spec'ing out a F12 right now, and really upset about the silly $3900 package on which I only care for the Side-View Camera's, and would "like" to have the HUD, but, not mandatory. One thing that really bothers me, however, is that ARS needs to be purchased on a vehicle of this caliber when it's available on the lower-trim vehicles. That's a vehicle I must have after getting use to little to no body roll on my two current BMW's, then jumping in other vehicles & wondering WTH is wrong with them!
