Can any of you with NavPro set different scales when you have both maps showing at the same time? My maps slew to each other, i.e. if I set one to show 1/2mile and then try to set the other to show 1/4 mile it changes the first to 1/4 also. It also will only show them in "direction of travel" or "north up" modes not either/or. Most other split screen gps I had seen (mostly other auto makes) were able to have one map zoomed in and one out but he hasn't been able to determine if this one has that ability...
Another Nav function question....the dealer has told me that this next issue is because I am obviously running the European dvd for the gps...but in route selection I do not have the option of "dynamic route" but I do have a selection to "avoid ferries". My question is for those who are using the US dvd do you have "dynamic route" option? We are thinking it may only be available on the US dvd as part of the "traffic advisory" signals that are supposedly sent out along the interstates.....has anyone seen that work? The Nav is said to be able receive traffic updates through this system and display them on the map so you can avoid jams etc...?
Can anyone please confirm my belief that "autostore" is standard for all radios on US spec vehicles?
The car is supposed to tell you with a symbol on the drivers red screen when a door or trunk lid is open correct? What about when the gas cap door cover isn't closed for example? For the whole day I had the car before taking it back in I seem to remember it giving a picture or message when a door was open and the engine was running, but since they "reset" it again it doesn't give any warnings or indications..
Voice activation...after installing two new gps computers....after they claimed it would finally work, "or so Munich told them", it doesn't...does anyone know a specific software version they are using in which it works? Or if they had trouble with it and it now works what the fix was???
As for Bluetooth, the answers the German dealers have told me is that my Feb '04 production car is only pre-wired and that I will have to purchase an assembly kit to make it compatable with any other BT comp. phone and service provider...just fyi
I truly love the car but would love it even more if it did what it was said it was going to be able to do......

Hi
Congrats on new vehicle.
I can't answer your questions on map sizes, but on dynamic routing, Europe uses TMC signals via the radio.
1) Do you have a TMC option ?
2) With a European DVD and TMC enabled the system warns you as you approach a jam and asks if you want to reroute. This may be as dynamic as it gets.
3) Does your voice module work at all, does it speak when you press the phone button on the wheel ?
(This is based on my knowledge of non Nav Pro system so could be ":-" without the "-
")

My car does can not receive the European TMC signals because it is all US specs (I return to the States in less then a year). So I don't expect the traffic update to work here. The english owners manual shows it working in the States, does it? My other concern is though that I do not have "Dynamic Route" as a sub menu option under Route Preferences at all (as shown in the picture in the Nav section of the owners manual). It does give me an option of "Avoiding Ferries" which I don't think (but not sure) is an option for people in the States. The question is, is it a matter of computer programming or do some of the options change based on which dvd (US/European) you put into the car (this is the scenaria my dealer is trying to find out from BMW)?
As for Voice Moduel...the NAV talks to me no problem, but absolutly nothing happens when I press either the steering wheel button or the button by the menu button. The first time I had the car they had installed the wrong computer that did not support voice activation, after two replacements they "assured" me that my car should be fully voice activated..yet it does nothing, the icon doesn't even show up on the iDrive screen.
Thanks for your help!

HI
Ok, the nav issues are beyond me, I dont have access to US vehicle or DVD.
On the voice front, with my X5, the voice module is a stand alone module, thats needs installing, the nav voice is independent of this.
Does your vehicle have a stand alone voice module ?
Get the dealer to check it and insert a replacement, from what you are saying it sounds like voice control is not installed.
Also try a post in the Ed section and welcome to the fest

Thank you for the welcome.
The voice activation is supposed to operationial straight from the factory. It is supposed to control almost the whole car (entertainment, nav, vents etc...or so I have read). I'll try a post in the Ed section.
Thanks again.

Took my 04, 525i in to the dealer the other day for an software upgrade to make my Voice Activation work. After leaving my car a whole day at the dealer I was informed that there is a module that is needed and BMW will notify each customer when this is ready to be installed. :dunno: Sound kinda a fishy to me. Anyone else in this boat.
