All Right!

I was hoping that Bimmer Magazine would attend. That is my favorite BMW magazine! Let's hope they do a full-length article. I think Bimmerfest deserves it!

Yet the "official" BMW magazine of the BMWCCA "The Roundel" will not be there. Why is that? That's why I like BIMMER magazine better. They're not as stuffy.

Just a wild-ass guess, but I think part of the reason is that the Roundel kinda likes to only publicize and report from events that they or the Club officially sanction. The other reason is that they probably are saving they travel and publication budget for O'fest which (aside from being officially sanctioned) is being held just a couple of months after bimmerfest in LA.

Good educated guess "operknockity". But in the past years when it hasn't conflicted with Oktoberfest they still had no coverage. I understand it's not a sanctioned CCA event but it's so huge, you'd think they'd at least do some coverage. But glad that BIMMER magazine will be there.

I honestly don't know why they would not want to cover it. After sending along a nice email to a person I won't mention, the response was simply: "This is noteworthy to the national membership exactly how?"

I responded and explained why I felt it was worthy but I have not heard anything back from them in regards to the event. Apparently they know better about what the CCA members want than thee CCA members themselves.

In any case, we are very happy to have bimmer coming along this year, it is very much a step in the right direction

I'm not 100% sure that someone that has some input to the Roudel won't be there, but they probably get similar requests from more events a year than you could shake a stick at. Granted, most of them have nowhere near the significance to the BMW community that Bimmerfest does, but it just may take them a while to figure that out.

The best way to get Bimmerfest into the Roundel is to have someone submit a well written article with pictures to them.

While disappointed that they won't be there, I think this year is the watershed, and it's really those of us that are bimmerfest veterans that have a full appreciation for what this event has become. The first four fests were really kind of a dealer promotion, even if most of us wouldn't view it that way. For someone who never attended, and really didn't know much about it, the relatively small gathering at a dealer in SB might very well be interpreted as any other "event" that goes on at car dealers practically every weekend in the spring and summer as a promotional sales tool.

This year is way different, in so many ways. I think next year the Roundel will be there. Bimmerfest has truly become an event in its own right, independent, existing for its own purpose of existing. Add to that the size of the event this year, surely to be an even bigger draw next year with more vendors, press, etc., perhaps the biggest BMW event in the US, and the Roundel will have to cover it.

I would be surprised if there wasn't some mention of it this year in a column, and there will certainly be a ton of reader mail.

Of course everything I've said here assumes we have bimmerfest again next year :supdude:
