Since this will be my first fest, I was wonder what most of you guys do, get your car detailed before you go to SB or once you get there? If you get it done at home? what do you guys do once you get there? Any suggestions would be great.

Well, in the first place, it would be nice if I could afford a detailer! Here's what I do:
I clean and detail my car inside and out before I drive from San Jose to Santa Barbara on the day before bimmerfest. When I arrive in Santa Barbara, I wash and dry my car in the hotel parking lot (obviously, I have to bring cleaning supplies). Then the next day I drive to bimmerfest, and break out the quick detailer spray, and touch up the entire car one last time.
In your case, since you are probably driving up from Huntington beach, which is relatively close, here's what I would do: Detail the car the day before, then if it doesn't rain on the drive to bimmerfest all you will need to do is take the dust off with some quick detailer.
That's all!

I bring the PC ROB and do a full wash, clay, polish, and wax when I arrive at the event on Saturday. Usually have a few rock chips from the trip down to touch up with paint and clearcoat, so a little wet-sanding is in order before the wash.
I finish up with a complete interior carpet shampooing, cleaning and Lexol conditioning of the seats, careful micro-vacuuming of all vents, removal of the front seats to shampoo carpet underneath them, and finally machine polish the inside and outside of all the windows.
I'm usually done around the time the afternoon road-rally gets back.
:p , of course. :D

I'll be bringing my detailing supplies. The only thing I'll need will be a hose and source of water, and some other 'festers have offered same.
I did just give my car a brief wash and interior cleaning (the 4-hour kind) today. I'll be putting a couple more coats of Zaino on before I head west.

Okay, now that I've had my fun chain-yanking, here's the real scoop:
Kurt and I usually get together some time the week before, and do an extensive detailing of both our cars. Not too far off of what I posted above, minus the carpet shampooing and interior/exterior glass polishing. Definitely a full-on wash/strip, clay, machine polish, wax, wax, wax, then typical miscellaneous exterior detailing (wipe down the engine, detail the wheels, polish the exhaust tips, etc.).
Standard interior detailing: Clean everything, vacuum, clean floor mats with Resolve, clean and condition leather (if it's been more than 3-4 months), clean/dress wood trim with quick detailer, clean windows in and out, etc.
Then, as Kurt said, we do a "mini-wash" when we arrive in SB on Friday afternoon, and a final touch-up with Speedshine upon arrival at the event on Saturday.
To save myself fatigue and crankiness, I'm doing the interior detailing this weekend. I've finished about 2/3 of it so far today. I'll just need to basically vacuum, dust, and do the windows in a month before the trip down.
Oh, and that bit about vacuum, dust, and windows? I look great in a French Maid's uniform  :bustingup

It'll last, and you'll only be looking at a vacuum, dust, and window work on the inside when you get here.
That is, as long as you don't pour coffee all over the center console, seats, and carpets when you get confused by the illuminated hazard button thinking it's your lighted cupholder mod :p  :D

I'll be doing that anyway - that's part of my regular monthly 4-hour cleaning (as opposed to the 2-hour wash-and-dry, which I try to do every week if the weather's good). Today was my "end of winter" cleaning, so it took a bit longer than usual.

I would much prefer if your girlfriend(s) or wife(s) detail the day of Bimmerfest in a thong, I think it would add a real air of credibility to the event.. picture attached as an example only...

I like Flying Dutch Man's idea a lot, but barring the girl, I will do the detail before I leave and bring the quick detail spray with me.

I usually detail the night before...since the drive is about an hour and a half it doesn't get messed up on the way up...but I do bring a few supplies just in case.

Adam's Polishes makes a great one (and it smells like a strawberry milkshake). It even works great on windows. I also use the Zaino Gloss Enhancer as a really good detail spray if I've Zaino'ed recently.
Here are the links to where I got both online:
AdamsPolishes.com (http://adamspolishes.com/)
ZainoStore.com (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc)
My Adam's order came overnight! They're fairly local to me in So. Cal.
