XM Direct Module -- Anyone try it yet?

Hey All:

I've heard a little bit about the XM Direct Blitzsafe module. Apparently the one that is out in market now can be used in conjunction with the a CD changer (if you have one) and is specific to BMW/Mini

Has anyone tried this out? If you have a Sat. ready BMW and want XM instead of Sirius, this is the solution. It is supposed to completely work normally (with artist/song name, etc) when installed.

If anyone has this or has more info on it, would really like to know your thoughts...

Considering my dealer wants $1,200 to install Sirius to my car, this may be a better option. Any idea on costs? I'd be interested if it works like the Sirius unit through the head unit and steering wheel controls.

Yep, I've got it. (Had to retrofit a 2003 head unit to make it work.)

It works pretty well, although I've learned that my hearing is too good for XM radio. The high frequency compression artifacts that are present in ALL XM broadcasts, regardless of players make it difficult for me to listen for extended periods of time. This is just an FYI, as most people don't have any issues whatsoever with XM sound quality. My hearing is just unusually sensitive and minor things kill me.

Anyhow, it has totally OEM integration like Sirius, including 18 presets and steering wheel controls and scrolling display. The only thing you'll notice is that the Radio pops up Sirius and than says XM Radio, sicne it's using the factory Sirius hardware.

Of course there is the XM monthly subscription fee of about $10 too...

does anyone know if the xm solutions work with the bmw nav screan ie will text readout of songs???I doesn't work on my 09/2002 build car. But there have been at least 2 revisions of the radio module since then, and I hope to be able to snarf the latest radio tuner and see if that makes it work.

seems from the threads that it might show on the nav screan songs etc but knowbody confirmed, you'd think the manuf would want to list that if they did

Looks like it will only work on cars without NAV.
