I have a BMW X3 2007 and have serious peeling problem in the driving wheel and middle console. Posting comment for future buyers to be aware of this issue. Thank you.

Unfortunately, you are not the first one to see this. This is a well documented problem, tons of posts describing the same issue. I have peeling not on my steering wheel, but the button that opens the storage compartment in the dash, both front door window control surrounds, and my cup holder.

I used Brillo pad, hot water, dish soap, and elbow grease to remove the peeling paint off of all the items you listed. Now its a nice clean plastic. Carefuly with the brillo not to scratch too bad.

Hopefully threes a charm.

Also search is your friend..this has been discussed many times.

Mine is starting to peel on the button that opens up the dash compartment. So far have left it alone, but may try the brillo solution if it gets worse. Sad BMW could not find a more durable top coat for their plastics. None of my other cars or trucks have experienced this.

used mineral spirits and a rag tonight on some of the radio as well. Worked well. Sticky for a lil bit afterwards so becareful touching it, but that went away after about 30 minutes.
