You mentioned in the N. meets S. thread that there was a local constable staking out the entrance to the event, and that they were up to speed on bimmerfest. Are there any interactions with the men in blue for the road rally, or will we be executing basically according to the same plan from the last four years?

I was wondering, do you have a total mileage distance for the rally route?
TIA!

As of right now we are steady as she goes.
I am wondering if perhaps we should eliminate the Refugio Rd. stop.

I am wondering if perhaps we should eliminate the Refugio Rd. stop.I was thinking that too, given the number of cars this year. It will be a real mess, and quite an invitation for the black&whites to get involved.
It's one of the fun aspects of the rally, though, so it would be a shame. :(

After hearing about some of the stuff that happened at the Norcal vs. Socal meet I'm a little afraid of what SBPD might be planning for bimmerfest. Personally I'm going to bring some zip ties and put my front plate on when I get up there and drive around with my tinted windows rolled down :) Any other ideas for avoiding confrontation with the cops?

Hi Jon,
My name is **** ****** and I'm a reporter at the Santa Barbara
News-Press. I'm doing a story on the recent crackdown by local police of
modified cars. The story was sparked after an April 10 car show at Earl
Warren where some of the people attending said they were unfairly pulled
over by police. I understand that Bimmerfest is coming up on May 1. I'm
wondering if you have any concerns about this for your show? Or not.

NO! :thumbdwn: , ha. Just Kidding :D , non BMWs can come but they can't park in the same lot with the BMWs since the event is actually for BMW cars only. There will be an overflow lot for non-BMWs and you can park there if you want to come out.
Edit: you were probably talking about the road rally...you'd have to get some response from other members but I think the general consensus is that they'd like to keep it as BMWish as possible...especially for those cool panoramic shots of the BMWs on the side of the highway that seem to stretch on for miles...
