Like many frustrated owners but still loyal lovers of their pre-2012 650i convertible, I am at my wits end on my faulty top sensor leaving me stranded with window half down, top fully down, and 12 plus wasted days at an equally frustrated dealership. I have concluded my ONLY solution to fix this problem once and for all is to move up to a 2012. BUt, before I drop 100k plus on the new beauty.....

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THEIR NEW TOP????

Thanks!

Not a fair question. I had 5 E64s and not one convertible top issue....because I never had one past single digit miles. So our experiences so far with the F12s isn't sufficient to tell the test of time.

I've had my 2012 roadster for 12 days - So far so good. My 2009 650 vert had it's top replaced by BMW as the drivers side was wearing very heavily, as if it wasn't installed square to the vehicle. The attachment hooks at the leading edge were replaced prior to that but neither issue prevented or impeded closure or operation.

No issues. I've had it for 3 months.

I got a 2012 650 i convertible in 04/2012 and there is a coding problem with the driver side rear window. Also there is a small leak in the right windshield pilar. They can be fixed, but I had these issues.
I know it, because my 650 i was replaced, I got a new 650 i c 2 weeks ago and same issues.

Offtopic: Could you elaborate? Why did you have 5 verts with <10 miles each?

Just got my '12 650i 'vert and, intermittently, I'm having the same problem, sometimes with the right rear side window, sometimes on the left. Took it to the dealer who couldn't replicate the problem who "reset" the car. Problem occurred again on the ride home from the dealer. Very frustrating.

I like what you use to fix your problem. Do it! You won't regret.

Had mine since November and no top issues.

Only issue I have is my rear driver side window refuses to want to close sometimes. I have to sit there and keep hitting the window up button until it decides to cooperate.

Before you bring it back:
Go out & drive hard. Take hard cuts--make the weight come around and the stabilizers computer and component do its thing. Jossle it up.

Midway thu. Drop Top (while stopped :)) and drive hard some more. Tweak. ;)

Then roll into dealer and bring up
Top. Maybe you can get it to reproduce problem then.

Worse case you had Some Fun.

Nothing but love in these forums. If you want to be flamed, change your car listing to a 3er and troll those forums! ;)

Particularly a 3er circa 1995. Those crazy kids don't like to play games. They're very serious about their old Bimmers lol. I personally paid an extra $85k just so I could join this forum. Had nothing to do with the 6er. Just did't want to have to deal with the kiddies.

Hahaha. Well, the only greek organization I'm a part of is an exclusive honors society, so I can get away with a lot
