So here are my comments :

The paint is in excellent condition. On the right door there are some slight swirls (more like a line as if it's been made by a ruler).

As you can see from the pictures on three of the wheels there are very small damages.

The engine is clean as if new. The engine number is NOT possible to see from above.

All tires are new.

He said he's going to take the radio (I think he forgot to tell you)

In one of the documents he sent you (not the pictures) there is a paper regarding the odometer.

Is it just me, or is this rear end Adrian/Bangle-esque?

Nice!

Anything negative? (aside from the radio, which he'll soon be reinstalling if he wants to sell to me!)

Are those old German plates? If not, what country is that?

Looks like the perfect summer car...

Next, let's see what the Feds have to say!

Actually, the styling speaks much about the car's path to production. It was a BMW Technik prototype deisnged to display certain technologies. Originally it was not intended for production.

If you look at other Technik models (originally the "Z" meant Technik not "roadster"), the styling has the same unusual themes. But none of these other cars made production.

On a timeline, this car was built and designed in the Claus Luthe-era but I do not believe that he had anything to do with it.

EDIT- Here's a link I just found with more concrete details than strictly what I remembered off the top of my head- http://home.t-online.de/home/045543482-0003/history.htm

There is nothing negative to say about the car. As I arrived and was waiting for him to arrive, I saw one of the guys who was working in the same building and knew Garre. He said he was a car nut and had more cars.

You want my personal opinion ; If I were into the market of a Z1 I would buy this car without hesitation.

These are temporary plates for cars which are not registered at the Transportation Department. For a small fee you can get these red plates to be able to move the car from one place to another (like to the dealer or from dealer to your garage etc.)
