View Full Version : Lighting issue

I keep my light switch in auto mode (one click to the right). What just started happening is the head lites and brake lites stay on after the ignition is turned off. I had to turn the lite switch to off. I also noticed that the high beam steady on in auto mode won't stay on, only flashing works.
Is it a setting that changed?

There is a setting for pathway lighting in one of the menus...it is a user settable entry that determines how long, and if, the lights stay on after you shut the car off. It is designed to allow you to walk to your destination with the lights on. If they NEVER time out and shut off on their own, something is wrong. If you had the vehicle in for service, they may have applied a firmware update, and that may have changed the default. Or, a gremlin was playing!

I am aware of that setting. That's not the problem though.

Automatic headlamp control is one click to the LEFT, not the right. One click to the right is for the parking lamps and Daylight running lamps (if activated)
Do you have the High Beam Assistant? If so, you can activate or deactivate it with the switch at the end of the turn signal lever. With the days getting shorter and darkness falling earlier, if you have the High Beam Assistant switched on, it will cut your high beams to low anytime there is light ahead that is perceived to be from another vehicle, so you don't blind them with your headlights. It will keep you from using high beams in town and in most well lit areas as well as during daylight as I understand.
Check Page 86 of your manual for more info.

Thanks, that did it. The switch position was set when I took delivery. Left the car at an airport park and it must have been changed.
