I just wanted to add that another way of describing the address or location is:
Where Las Positas Rd. meets US HWY 101...
(Take Las Positas Road offramp from either the North, or from the South)
Do you think we could get a banner put up at the top of the parking lot lightpost nearest the intersection, facing the offramp? SoCalEuro had one there, and you couldn't miss it as you came off the freeway coming northbound.

I'm not sure I think you can, but I think you can also turn right and get in that upper entrance, I'll zoom and and conpare with the map they have on their site or if someone local knows :dunno:
attila, the sandman inn (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=internal&addtohistory=&latitude=7ubkce8Kafc%3d&longitude=5PNa1MenDcUDC9YxIOCzcQ%3d%3d&name=Sandman%20Inn&countryid=250&country=US&address=3714%20State%20St&city=Santa%20Barbara&state=CA&zipcode=93105&phone=805%2d687%2d2469&cat=sandmann%20inn&spurl=0) is about a one mile drive between the fairgrounds. from the sandmann...u just head east on State st, turn right (South) on Las Positas, and the fairgrounds are on the right side.
we'll be driving right by it on our way to the Sandman Inn on that friday afternoon.

It would logically be the front entrance directly off of Calle Real. The back entrance off Las Positas would require making a left across traffic, and that driveway is a bit steep.

Yes, I believe it is their "Gate B" entrance off of Calle Real. The other entrace will not be used for the event.

Last night my wife suggested that some of you get off at Hope Ave (by Cutter Motors)
as was done for previous events. If you come back down Calle Real it will alleviate
the traffic jam on the highway...

I don't know how much that would help, since Calle Real is a 2-lane, and since you'd need to wait for a left to get in, it may back that up, too.
It's a viable alternate, but not a solution, I think.

For those of us at the Samdman (or Motel 6), I can get us there, no prob.
As for the caravan from SD/OC/LA, it really would be best to get off at Hope and go past Cutter, using Calle Real. In years past we have had SOOO many people trying to get off the freeway and get into the dealership that we have backed up traffic (just the Bimmerfest caravan traffic) onto the freeway. This is bad, since we had almost 1/8 a mile of cars sitting in the slow lane (or hopefully on the shoulder) trying to get off the 101. If they can all get off and onto Calle Real at once, even if they are backed up almost to the Hope exit, it would be better than causing a hazard ON the 101 at the Las Positas exit. Just my .02

Uber,
if we get off at hope and make our way back (the caravan that is) won't we then have to mkae a left into earl warren? if there is not a big left hand turn lane might it be best for the caravan to exit normally and people coming on their own to get off at hope and make the left :dunno: i don't remember the area at all really
