Caravan from SF Bay on Sat Bimmerfest morning

Three of us will be heading down to bimmerfest on Sat morning from the Bay Area. If any of you like to join us let us know! The more the merrier :)

Departure time from south Bay: 7:00am (Or earlier).
Equipment: V-1 radar detector, two-way radios.

...departure @7am
two tentative meeting locations:
1-Eastridge Mall Parking Lot in San Jose maybe? (off of 101 and Tully)...or
2-McCarthy Ranch in Milpitas - 5.5 miles east on 237 from 101 (for Penninsula and SF people)...

Eastridge will not be a good idea, as it takes 5-10 min just to drive in and lots of traffic lights. We can always meet at a small plaza right off of the highway exits.

Hey sailwind, I THINK leaving at 7am might be a little late? Last year, the lot at cutters got filled like at 8am. Might not be a case this year, just giving you a heads up with the 800 or so cars that are supposed to show up.

Yeah, I've heard about that. 7am would put in at Santa Barbara at about 11 - 11:30 am.

The showgrounds is much larger I believe. Someone mentioned there were 1000 car registered for the norcal vs socal event and the primary lots weren't full. The gates open at 9am this year so I'm hoping the stragglers will be late like us, heh.

I'm open to taking off earlier, just let me know Z. Got a party the night before so trying to sneak some sleep time in before the trek :D.

You gonna come back Sat Teknic? We should set up a caravan for the way back too.

sailwind, I got my dad on board to come out with me... as a result we are leaving at 5am :rolleyes: to arrive on time. We estimate a three to four hour trip to Santa Barbara from San Francisco...

However, I have a feeling you'd be invaluable on the trip down... haha.. who else is taggin along with you? Who, when, where? I don't really want to wake up at 5am anyway

Great to have you along! I think right now it's Z'man and I meeting up in San Jose (near hwy 680/101 intersection) at around 6:30am. You're more than welcome to join up with us if the time will work for you.

It's a small group so our times are really flexible. My wife will be joining us on this trip :) , I don't know if Z-man has company, heh.

It should take about 4 hours from San Jose to Santa Barbara. May be shorter if someone have recent experience.

Regardless, 6:30 sounds like an okay time.. it'll take 40-60 minutes to get down to San Jose for me. Where exactly are you and z-man planning to meet up?

Out of curiosity, is z-man in a zhp equipped 330, too? ;)

I should add that I may quite possibly have the worst sense of direction ever... with that in mind, landmarks or a direction I can punch in the nav will work best =)

Hey,I just made a booking for Fri and Sat nights at the Comfort Inn... 1/4 mile from the showgrounds...I have my placard ready, plus my car is electric red...u can't miss it...look for me and I'll do the same :)
