BMW announced US pricing for the all-new 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe. The $76,895 (including $895 Destination and Handling Charge) TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder powered 640i Gran Coupe is the initial model of the range, and arrives early this summer. Later in the summer, the TwinPower Turbo V-8 powered 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe and the all-wheel drive 2013 BMW 650i xDrive Gran Coupe will join the line. Pricing for the V-8 powered models will be announced closer to the time of launch.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is a new 4-door, 4+1 seat addition to the 6 Series line that successfully combines the stunning proportions, design and driving dynamics of the 6 Series Coupe with interior room and amenities for up to five passengers. Harmonious proportions, precise lines and sleekly contoured surfaces give the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe the unique ability to satisfy the driver who wants a luxurious and sporty coupe yet needs a car capable of carrying four adults in comfort and luxury.

The all-new BMW 6 Series Gran coupe will make its world debut at the Geneva International Auto Show in March and its North American premiere at the New York International Auto Show in early April. The 640i Gran Coupe will also be previewed at the Amelia Island 2012 Concours d’Elegance in Amelia Island, Florida from March 9-11.

Horribly overpriced for a V6. The A7 comes in much cheaper, not to mention, it will be faster than this N55 engine.

For my ~$80k-90k, this is what I'd buy

Simply stunning! So much more refined looking than the Panamera.

A7 wins hands down for both design and value. As much as I love BMW's I will go with the Audi A7 by far over the Gran Coupe. The A7 is a great value and the design has a wonderful edge to it. The Gran Coupe looks like all of the other BMW cars.

One poster says "the Gran Coupe looks like other BMW cars." Of course; what else should it look like? An Audi, a Toyota? It's a BMW. Why should it not look like a BMW?

Pretty expensive. Not sure it's worth it.

Style wise, A7 and CLS catch people's attention. This thing a coupe? Even VW CC does better to give a coupe profile.

Interior is nice. But 4+1? Must be a joke.

I'm not sure...I like the car, the interior looks good, almost bespoke in the picture. The price however is a very high, ridiculously so. What we don't know is what state of tune the N55 will arrive in, so I'd reserve final judgement until that dust is settled. If BMW priced this at $60-65, it'd be a clear winner, I just don't think they can pull CLS vs E-Class pricing off as the cars aren't that drastically different from the 5-series or 7-series pedigree. Besides, most reasonable people would rather have a 740i+options for less, or a more or less loaded 550. If the $76k price is set in stone, which it seems, I think they've missed the mark.

Edit...I guess in another post it was stated that 320hp/332lb-ft was established...The best choice if these prices are gonna stick is the diesel (if it actually comes over)-313hp/465 ft-lbs

I agree i like the designs of the Merc CLS, Audi A7/S7 and the up and coming 640/650 sedans, but im a bimmer guy and I must admit the new 6 series sedan is overpriced and more than both the other two models listed. Personally i was looking forward to getting this as my next purchase but right now i cant see that happening with it being overpriced.

That's Panamera territory for me!

It is priced $3k over the 640i and $5k over the 740i, but I would still pick it over either of those two cars.

Me too. Although I can imagine you living with the smaller engine and it's lesser power

Oops, I meant to say I would pick a GC over a comparable 6 or 7 Series. I'm still hoping the M6 GC will be my long desired AWD M car.

True dat, it is highly priced, well see what the response is when it comes out.

a less functional 5 series with an uglier interior and less seats for way more money. AWESOME!
