Before I go searching the vast Internet, does anyone know off-hand the best method to use a Verizon Blackberry Tour (their World phone) over in Germany/Italy? I don't need voice minutes really, just a very simple data plan to get emails as they are key for work.

thanks in advance.

Does your Tour have Wi-Fi?

I wish - the Verizon models do NOT have wi-fi.

That wouldn't help anyways, I really need to use a cell network since we will be driving around a lot.

Call VZ and have them add an international data and voice roaming plan.

Actually, it could have - I would have recommended travelling with a hotspot.

Verizon will do 300mb data package for $125,just call them to add it, be wary of going over the data cap cause then it's 20 $/mb... =ouch

Would it be better to simply buy another SIM card while I am there, from a different provider? The Tour has a SIM slot.

It depends, if you are staying in one country, you can call Verizon and have them unlock the sim card slot, then you could get a blau, t-mobile, or vodaphone sim card in Germany, but if you go to another country you will need to get a new sim card in each country... If you are going to a lot of places its easier to just use Verizon... Ymmv
