View Full Version : Alloy wheels that spin round, when the car is stationary....

I saw an E36 M3 Convertible earlier, which was trying very hard to look Bling Blingy.
I noticed that its Chrome coloured Alloy wheels spun round, even when the car was not moving (classy eh). I was informed that these ‘hot pimpin’ wheels are quite big in America, can anyone shed any light, because they certainly made me laugh.
Spinners!
They're so lame (and cost as much as a new car) yet so popular with the rappers rollin' in their Escalades (Cadillac truck, for those in Europe who'll need to just trust us; they exist).
The fad has gone to the point where there are hubcap versions that attach to your stock steel Civic wheels.

"Spinners."
Quite ridiculous.
BUT, I noticed a new Rolls Royce the other day that had the same thing... albeit much more subdued. Looked stock to me.
The new BMW Roller has centercaps that stay upright while the wheel spins. Similar in concept, though not nasty like spinners.

Right... that's what I saw. So those centercaps won't spin at the end of a highway offramp, though?

On today's American Chopper, they were building a "Dixie Chopper" and it had dual spinners on each wheel. Pretty sick. It looked ok on the bike and all, especially given that the entire frame was done up in gold flake paint.

But on a car, and especially a bimmer :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

The ultimate rice look for your car. If I were a pimp or a pusher I'd opt for them. Almost as cool as shopping cart handled spoilers, or the windshield strips that say what kind of car you're driving. I saw one last week that read "Grand Marquis" (how sad is that?)
I want the "Ben Hur" version for those tiny "road rage" times.
I love "rice" ! Almost as much fun as sub woofers that make the car rattle!

Spinners on a bimmer are cr@p. But that Dixie Chopper bike's wheels were sick. Dual spinners on both wheels, and they were modeled on mower blades. OCC comes up with some wild but beautiful bikes. Not my style, but nice to look at.

They were modelled after mower blades because that motorcycle was powered with a lawn mower engine... A tad modified, but still a mower engine.
I missed a bunch of the episode, but I think those spinners might even have been counter-rotating.

if you put spinners on a bimmer BMWNA should confiscate your car or at least void the warranty due to gheyness

Not a ghey issue. Lack of taste, style and/or class.

How about that case here in SoCal of an SUV jacking (to get their hands on these POS wheels) that went bad with the SUV owner ending up shot to death - sick fad indeed. :(
And yes, I've seen them on several BMWs here in SoCal - from a beat up e36 to a new 7 series

You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round, like a record, baby, right 'round...
Whenever I see them, I have an urge to stick a chunk of cheese against them.

Those just look stupid!! My mom called me last weekend from the Netherlands to tell me that she saw a Black 740il in Den Haag with those spinners on it... Even my mom said they look stupid... :D

I just saw a yellow H2 that was raised about 6-8inches and was sporting spinners that looked about 22-25" in diameter on Saturday!

That's the kicker - not only do you get to look like a fool with them on your car, you get the added privilege of spending a fortune for them, adding to the lunacy. :tsk:

Yeah, I've seen $10,000 packages - 4 wheels/tires for SUVs. That's nuts

Sorry to say...its just another pathetic trend for the lemmings of America.
Anyone remember the 3-spoke wheel craze?
I can only shake my head when I see some fool (and we arent' talkin gangsta here) with those wheels. :tsk: :tsk:

I've always liked them... First time I saw them was on a tricked out Escalade. Looked sweet from where I was sitting.
Then again, I've always like the chrome tailpipes, neons, and lowered rides, too.
I dunno, never really understood people's need to hate on "bling." :dunno:

I dunno, never really understood people's need to hate on "bling." I think hate is a strong word. I think it is more of a "to each their own taste"
I spend time on one of the Avalanche boards. There are people who have lowered, chromed, neon'ed, etc. and people who have gone up and build some sick 4x4s. I tend to like my truck stock; some of the mods people have done are not for me, but I still appreciate the work they put into it. In the context of this thread, if you like Sprees or the like, cool. They're just not for me.
