View Full Version : Selling my car

Well I've been talking with my Dad and I want to finance my own car and build up some credit. Since my car is a lease, I have decided that isn't the best thing right now for me, and I don't feel like paying that much. I am buying something from our dealership that I can get real cheap, then in a year and a half, I'll sell it and get something I really want.
This is not the end of my BMW ownership experience. I can't wait to be an owner again one day. I am definately going to miss my car.

sort of, I would have loved an F-150 but I didn't want to spend that much right now, even with the special deal I get for working there. I bought a Sport Trac, 4 door truck, good room, ok on gas, and got a great deal on it. So I'll keep that for a while then get something nice.

the new F-150 is absolutely awesome. If I'm still working there when getting rid of this one, I'll get an F-150

Ours just spent the last week and a half at the dealer. Repaint back passenger door, new rear end diff or some smack like that, hesitation when you give it gas....Jake's sad and misses his old truck though we had no choice.
I wish we had gotten the four door like Dred's, but then we'd either have to get the shorter or longer bed, and not the one we did. We wanted one long enough for a motorcycle without having to leave the tailgate down.

He did a lot of research on F150online (I think that's the site) and apparently some of these kinks are pretty common.

It came down between that and a Lariat. The Lariat has a lot to offer. I needed something I didn't mind getting dirty inside and out, plus I needed the skid plates and tow package.
Anyways, awesome truck yourself. I really like the new Fords. I LOVE the Nissans too.

Titan isn't bad, but I couldn't buy it over the Ford :D
The FX4 is one awesome package, and still rides and drives incredibly well. You don't know you're in an off-road truck.

Yeah, my first choice was originally a Titan. I then realize I could get the F-150 with the X-Plan. Plus Rebate. Unbelievable. I was so torn between the two. THe Ford wins IMHO in most categories. Titan loses the biggest in interior quality which matters to me.
The inside of the ford looks like a sports car. Carbon Fiber trib, mesh silver speaker guards, 6 disk in dash cd (audiophile baby).
I am just very impressed.

The interior on our Pathfinder Ramada is the same, and while it looks pleasing, the quality is awful. 300 Miles on ours, and the interior already creaks and squeeks like a 80's Yugo.

Gt?
Can't get one. Only certain dealers get them, there was a lottery in Las Vegas last month to see which dealers will get them. The only one in Louisiana is Banner Ford in Mandeville. They are allowed 1

My F-150 Screw does but barely.
I can not believe how much leg room is in that thing.
BTW ff, we need to start racing again. I've been busy with the strike and all.

Damn, I've been busy too. No doubt, we need to race some more. Maybe we should plan to run some races next Monday? We never did have that final lap on the 'Ring...

Good luck with the truck. Sorry that you had to let the car go but it is understandable.
As far as trucks go, I am happy with my Chevy - has been absolutely no problems - which I like a lot! :)

I like that color, nice truck. A friend at work has one and it's got tons of room. Gotta love employee benefits.

The dealer I used to work for got 3. The first, they have sold for MSRP + $200K, the other 2 for a total of $300k. Not worth it IMO. My old boss runs another Ford dealer here and they sold both theirs for over $250K.
How can people be so stupid? :dunno:

Does your plan make financial sense? There are plenty of ways to build up credit without financing a car...and if you bought the truck new and plan to sell it in 1.5 years, you're going to eat the largest depreciation charge possible (versus buying a 2 year old truck that is not at such a steep point on the depreciation curve). I'm not trying to be a h8ter, and maybe there are other factors that make this a good decision, but it seems strange to me from a financial perspective.

Yes, but it is easily possible to buy vehicles on Ford's employee plan and not lose money selling it that quickly. In fact, I bought my Cobra on D-plan (employee), rolled $2000 into it, didn't put any money down (financed 100%), and sold it 16 months later and pocketed $3000 cash.

The main reason is of what 330cane said. In 1.5 to 2 years I should be able to make a little money by selling it because I can buy it so cheap.

Hey,
Where are you selling your car - I might have some interest. Just thought I'd see if you were still selling it or if it's on autotrader or something. Have a 2002 xi and might be replacing my fiancé's car.
Let me know!
