One of these turned onto the road behind me about 45mins ago.

I can't say I've ever seen one before.

I stared at my mirrors for the mile or so it was behind me.

Lancia?

I shouldn't have picked a pic with a LANCIA flag in it, huh?

Lancia Scorpion. Slow as heck if I remember correctly. For some reason, there were a few on the streets of PA back when they were new.

The only Lancias I know anything about are the Stratos and Delta Integrale, so I had to look this one up. I saw it pull into the street next to mine, so I walked over to see if I could find it, and took a quick look at it.

It appears to be a US-spec Lancia Scorpion (Montecarlo was the european name, since Monte Carlo was/is a Chevy trademark here). It's a tiny little car. Pininfarina badges and script on the sides. Doesn't come up much higher than the doors of my E46. It resembles a Fiat X1/9 somewhat, and they appear to be closely related.

I just did a google search to see if my memory was correct about its performance. I didn't find a 0-60 time, but the horsepower was rated at 81 and the car weighed 2490 lbs.

(My Road & Track collection from the 70s are boxed away or I'd look up the 0-60 time...my guess is about 14 seconds or so.)

Eek, that's a lot of weight to pack into a tiny car.
