Took these pics while out for a cruise through the German countryside.
beautiful.
aren't cars crazy-expensive in Europe? don't wanna know what a new Z4 costs. are you gonna bring it back w/ you once you're assignment is done (i'm assuming you're working as an expat for someone)? just curious :)

Would you believe that I paid 42K for a new 2004, 3.0 with everything but nav and wood dash. I also don't have to pay any sales tax on it either. I figure that I've saved close to 10k off of state side MSRP and taxes.
The car is US spec. I bought it from a dealer here that only sells new US spec BMWs and Saabs to Americans with Department of Defense Identification cards. I'm in the US Air Force and stationed in Germany, therefore I get this deal. I do plan on bringing the car back to the US although my driving habits will have to change drastically. I love cruising the autobahn and twisty back roads.

I know that my car was made in the US and I think US Z4s are made here too.
I wonder if there is a quality difference between a German made Z4 and an American made one?

All of the Z4s are made in the US, as well as the X5s. The quality should be close in regards to other BMWs made in Germany though. They have a pretty high quality control program regulated by the Germans.

I will definitely try to be there. Hotels may be hard to get. You know how all of Europe goes on vacation in August. Have you had any theft problems down there in Sigonella?. I hear about a lot of horror stories from down that way.

The only problems I have had have been on Sigonella itself. My car has been vandalized two times and on both occasions it was on base. Two days after I got it here someone keyed it and then a moth or so later someone stole the ///m's from the gills...
