I went today to my local BMW dealer today and asked for the part # and price for a black, driver side interior threshold trim piece that goes over the carpet on the door threshold. They told me the part # was S1477014605 and they wanted $47.34 for it.How in the future do I find a BMW part # online? I tried searching Google and nothing came up. Thanks.

Hi,

Try www.bmwfans.info or www.realoem.com, its a full online catalogue with prices, also great for cross referencing part numbers for retrofits and upgrades etc...

For example the part you are after is shown:

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E65/Sedan/Europe/730d-M57N/LHD/A/2005/january/browse/vehicle_trim/edge_protection_rockers_covers/

Im in the UK, prices are either ins USD or euros, when they are converted the prices are pretty accurate for the bits ive got in the past, although $47 sounds a bit steep!

Hope this helps!

Stuart

No worries, glad to help! Get yourself a laptop with INPA or DIS and a 20 lead from eBay and you will never have to go to the dealer again! (apart from collecting ordered parts of course!)

You can also go to realoem.com but I like stuart's link, seems to have better prices for what I am looking for (unless shipping from the UK dissolves my savings). oops, I see the realoem link- nice work SJ

Hey Stuart, how do you order from BMW fans, prices are far better but I see no place to make an order.

Hi,

Sorry I may have mislead you slightly,
You cannot order parts directly from either site, although I have stumbled across a few sites in the us that sell BMW parts online and ship them, I will have a look later.

I look the parts up I need, send an email to my nearest BMW dealer (approx 20 miles away) with the part numbers, they phone back and I pay with my card over the phone, I then have the parts delivered through the dealer network to a Saab garage 2 mins down the street at no extra cost. Works great for me.

For US bimmer owners:

Great service and quick delivery (and they throw a bag of M&Ms in each box).
