This waiting is getting painful.
It didn;t hurt a year ago with the 02 330i b/c I didn;t track the car on the Owner's Circle.
It didn;t hurt with the 01 Z3 b/c the car was sitting on the lot.
But waiting for the replacement for the 330i is painful.
Anyone else out there?

Our 5/17 thread got washed away on the 3 Series board so we may as well start fresh here.
I was 112 status as of Thursday. Hopefully things will change this week.

Indeed, the thread did get washed away...
This is probably a more appropriate venue anyhow.
My car went status 150 yesterday, and showed up on the Owner's Circle today as scheduled for production. I also just ordered a V1 to upgrade from my last detector, it should arrive tomorrow.
The wait is rough, but at least it's something to look forward to.

Do you also have a 5/17 production date? You're a good week or two in advance of mine. Consider yourself fortunate.

I do have a week 20 production allocation. The dealer as well as the Owner's Circle site has the car listed as a 5/17 production. We'll see if the fact that the car is "ahead of schedule" lead to an earlier delivery date.

You guys aren't doing so bad. I've been on an M3 waiting list since the end of January and just got production number on Monday. I've got it all set up on the Owners Circle, it's speced OK. It was first given a June 28 production date, but changed to June 21 yesterday. That's some progress. I'm going to get my 328Ci ready for sale, but I've still got to wait til July. The next step will be to make the Performance Center delivery arrangements.

I hope so to - then I can harass them daily :thumb:
I try and keep calls to my sales guy down - granted, I've given him/dealership a whack of cash, but I really don't like bugging him every day. Once a week's enough.

Does the headlamp washer option come standard in Canada? I didn't see it on your list of goodies.
What other options are you interested in? Fiest-aid kit, pedals, etc..?

Yeah, it's standard. Go here (http://www.bmw.ca/english/products_services/automobiles/model_intro-fs.asp?modelID=10&seriesID=1) and select 'specifications' - it'll give you the full list.
It amazes me how different the standard options are between Canada and the US. What the US folks consider options we get as standard. Other options are offered in Canada that aren't available south of the 49th.
I wonder why that is? :dunno:
I think the only option I'd consider right now is new pedals - the plastic ones are...unremarkable. I'm getting the ///M steering wheel with the car, but that would have been a definite upgrade - I like the nice thick wheel.
As for other stuff? We'll have to see. The new car is my first BMW, so I really don't know what I'll want to change - most likely, I'll be perfectly happy with it :thumb:

I haven't called BMWNA in a few days to check my status, but the website shows that it is produced, but awaiting transport. Unfortunately, now that the status has changed, my ordered options have changed as well. I'm missing the Sport Package from my order. I realize that the online tracking system is often off by a few days, but do they often have false info displayed for the options? I plan on calling tomorrow, but I'm a bit worried... this is my second order - my first order was botched by the dealership. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Pres330xi:
I checked on my vehicle this AM on the Owner's Circle website and it also stated the vehicle is en route, but the sport package option was now missing from the order detail.
I promptly called BMWNA and they reassured me that my vehicle was produced with all the options that I had originally requested, and was enroute on the vessel, Medea. ETA @ VPC in Oxnard, CA on 6/21!!!
The representative had stated that the Owner's Circle site was being upgraded and that in the process several errors had ocurred displaying order information. Hope that helps.

Just found out from my sales guy that my car was shipped from Bremerhaven, and is expected to hit port in Halifax tomorrow or the next day. That's somewhat interesting, since the next ship at port wasn't expected until the 8th... :dunno:
So, barring any serious delays on CN Rail, the car should make it to Calgary in about 2-3 weeks, for end of June delivery, just as Dale (my sales guy) predicted. :thumb: :thumb:

Based on LarryN and Firefly's scheduled deliveries above, does this mean that the AIDA scheduled to dock today (6/6) in New York already docked a few days ago? If so, do you know when it docked and when the cars made it to the VPC from the AIDA--I am waiting to get mine back in Houston....:thumb:

I don't think Larryn was on the Aida.

That's cool, since that means my car got off da boat either yesterday, or early today.
Hmmm, I was just looking at the shipping schedule, and the Aida was supposed to stop in Halifax on the 4th, so it might have been processed already, and placed on the train :thumb:

However, I did get delievered to the dealer yesterday though.:thumb: I'm going to drive by and take a looksee, but they still need to prep and register the car, after getting the paperwork for it. For some reason, they say it takes about 2-3 days after receiving the car that the paperwork for it follows (bill of lading...).

I hope Andawyr is correct that good things come to those who wait. Mine is in NJ, scheduled to arrive at the South Carolina VPC on 6/14, meaning it won't be in TX for some time. One of the unfortunate side effects of Euro Delivery--they send all ED cars to NJ, rather than SC. Good for people up north, bad for people down south.

Dude.
That really, truly, sucks. It pisses me off to no end how inconsiderate some people can be. The person in question was probably freaked out about a) hitting a car, b) hitting a nice car, and c) hitting a BMW. They probably saw their insurance rates skyrocketing, and bailed. :(
I say take the heat - if you hit someone, you pay. End of story.
Hopefully your search is fruitful.
You must have called the Police - it was a hit-and-run after all...
I would also mention that my greatest fear about getting a new car (especially a BMW) is dealing with what you are right now - some a$$hole either hitting me, or keying a door, or something like that.
I feel for ya.....

That really sucks. I hope you find the person.

LarryN- Don't sweat it- have your insurance pay to get it fixed and completely forget about it. I know it's easier said than done but in 6-8 weeks, after many miles of oooh-aaaaah driving, you'll have forgotten about everything.
But it does figure that you drive to a train station and park next to the 1976 buick which has never been broken into, keyed, or dented and your new bimmer gets whacked.
Enjoy the new ride- it will be back to "new" sooner than you know it.
Keep us posted but try not to get wound up about - heck, if this is the worst thing to happen to you in the last (insert time period here) then you are doing ok in life.
On one of my other message boards I belong to, someone recently posted a thread telling people that if they think something has happend to them and they feel as though they have been dealt the short end of the stick then they should spend a day over at Childrens Hospital in Boston. It really puts things into perspective.

Larryn: After reading my last post I think I need to let you know I was not trying to take away from the situation but rather just trying to have you put things into perspective.
I guess if I were in your shoes I'd bve upset- actually, I think most of us who are not in your shoes are indeed upset over seeing you go through this.
But like I said before- things will be back to normal before you know it.

Man, this is getting annoying.
First, the ship was going to arrive on the 6th.
Then the 9th.
Called for an update today - it arrived yesterday. The 13th.
It took almost three weeks on the water...
Then, to top it all off. my sales guy says it might be another month before it makes it to Calgary due to rail delays.
Great. Just great. I'm a wee bit bummed out right now, in case you haven't noticed :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:
Some birthday present.
Sorry for unloading....

I picked up my car last night. The wait was tough, but it was worth it. The day of the delivery was the worst. I didn't think work was ever going to end. I love the car. The clutch takes a little getting used to because it picks up pretty high. Other than that, the car is amazing. When you finally get it you will realize that it was worth waiting for two months because you got the exact car you wanted. Try not to think about it to much. That helped me.

Two months? I wish.....
I ordered the car April 11th.
Might have it by July 11th. :dunno: :dunno:
I know the wait will be worth it. But the wait will only have been worth it *after* I get the car :D Until then, well...
IT SUCKS!

Congrats Joe! That's excellent.
I've had mone for 4 days now and find that it really wants to go. I certainly can't drive it like I drive my 323i. I tend to shify at about 5-6k rpm in the 2.5, so that I can keep the car pulling. On the 3.0, it has pull from a lot lower rpms. I can't wait to get my 1200 mi's on (before the end of the month) for my next autocross.
Andawyr... Dude, that's a shame. It'll be here soon enough though.
Funny story for you guys. I was coming out of a sub shop at lunch today and saw a guy studying the new car. I walked up and he complimented it (not seeing the crashed in pssngr side), said he has a boxter, and "didn't know that BMW made 4 door M3's". I almost didn't want to correct him, but it was nice nonetheless.:thumb:

I asked my dealer about the break in period, and he said not to worry to much about it. He told me to stretch the gears a little. I still don't take it over 4500 rpm's, and I usually shift around 2500 - 3500 rpm's.

Took a ride today to pick up the new car.
Drove 2 hours from So. Nh to W. Springfield, MA.
Delivery went very smooth- Tim Lawrence at Wagner BMW has been a great guy to deal with.
Said goodbye to the 2000 F150 and took control of the 2002 330xi.
Decided not to take the Mass Pike back home but rather head north on rt 91 into Vermont and then cut over Route 9 through Keene (old stomping grounds for College) and then cut over Route 101 across NH.
What an incredible ride! I have not had this much fun driving in years! The 330xi is a great car to drive. The HK sounds great, no rattles or noise from anything.
The sport seats are very comfortable and the natural brown interior if pretty cool looking. The Orient Blue is an interesting color- in bright sun it looks blue and under cloud cover it looks a bit purple. In the garage it almost looks black. But I like it!
The long (153 mile) trip also gave me the chance to try out the V1. GLAD I BROUGHT IT WITH ME! 3 Speed traps in MA and VT on route 91. The first trap had the V1 going off almost 1 mile before I hit the trap. Thought the V1 was not working properly. But it did- and probably saved my butt since I was cruising at 80mph- hard not to with the 3.0
The manual shifts great- takes a bit getting use to going from N to 1 but after that it's smooth sailing.
Glad I ordered what I wanted to and glad I worked with such a great dealer.
Good luck to all those waiting- it's well worth the wait!

Congratulations and good luck. I also had problems getting into first. The clutch engages so high. But I am used to it know, and I love it.

I still haven't received my car either, so you are not alone. Mine just hit the VPC in South Carolina on the 18th, so I am still a week away.... The only solace I have is that mine will be broken in when I receive it (one of the benefits of Euro Delivery).

So, I called for my weekly status update today - missed my sales guy, since he's out on a test drive. Left a message, and went for lunch.
Got back, and the little light on the phone was blinking back at me.
Was it good news, or bad news?
I was fully expecting to be told that either a) the car was still in Halifax, or b) it was enroute.
Good news was that the car is in Calgary!  It'll take a few days for the car to make its way to the dealership, and a day for prep, so I should be able to pick the car up next week sometime.
Wifey want's to take the kids out to the farm for the weekend, so if I can get the the middle of next week, I'll be set for the weekend.
Hmmm, what to do, what do to :D :D
Almost there!

Andawyr... Sweeet! Glad you are finally getting the new drive.
Mine's back at the dealer. :banghead: With just one more twist of fate, I got in it yesterday after dry cleaning the wheels, and the clutch pedal went to the floor. Big puddle of hydrolic fluid on garage floor, and a trail when it was being pushed out of my garage onto a flatbed. They are replacing the master and slave cylinders.
Why don't the dealers have my2002 parts diagrams yet? I was in the parts dept with the tech advisor seeing if they might have the parts in stock (which they did not :(), and they were talking like "Well, it should be the same part as 2001. Just order that one". Granted I'm pretty sure it would be the same part, but, damn, why wouldn't they have the catalogue for 2002?
I wound up with a 330xi PP step loaner. They first tried to give me a rolling ashtray of a 99 grand am (bright red, with a nice pile of ashes on the dash). "Ahhhh, no, you're going to have to do better than that..." I'm not sure if it's a combo of the step or the all wheel drive, but my butt-o-meter says the xi/step is quite a bit slower than my 330i/5sp. Feels more like my 323i/5sp in WOT.
Anyway... congrats Andawyr, you're most assured of having better luck than I!!

Yeah, it won't be long now. I was at the dealership today (I was about a mile away due to an errand), and I stopped in to chat with my salesdude. Car was still at the rail yard, but he expects it in a few days.
There was a real nice 330ci in Orient Blue on the floor ready for pickup - ///MSport package, PP with Sand leather - looked very sweet.
Just a few more sleeps!
