Hey Dreamcar,
Were you able to get anywhere with this one? I'm really interested to see if we can enable this in our 2012 F10's without the need for the snap in adapter.
I can start looking into the parameters when I get home as well

I think the missing link is which video input on the back of the CIC unit (if any) is linked by default to playback from USB1 (USB2 being the snapin).
Alternatively, identifying a key which maps the current video port connected to the snapin, to the USB1 instead.
Most of this has been gone through in various 6NR retrofit threads/other forums, the main point to remember, is that there is no video decoding capability in the CIC, so its about physical composite video signal routing.

Kanuk,
I was able to activate the video Menu configuring the USB hub parameter but unfortunately from the understanding Shawn and I had, we think the regular USB cable cannot transmit the video even if the menu is accessible. Hope it makes sense to you.

To get video, the 6FL USB AUX-In Port needs to be switched with a USB AV-In Port, and then a Video connection made from it to the CIC. I'm not sure if after than 6NR is still needed, but if it is, the FSC Code needs to be obtained and programmed into the CIC which is several hundred dollars.

In HU_CIC, CDMM_USB_VIDEO changed to value 'both' will enable the listing of video files & the play video button on the player for both USB ports (armrest & snap-in).
But as said, the Apple architecture on the iPhone does not send digital video out nor is the CIC programmed to play any video file format/container from storage.
A CIC unit on the bench is needed to test if any video port is active, or can be set to active with the AUX1 parameters, independent of other VO.
@Kanuk, do you have 6NR?

Yes I do have 6NR - Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you as I didn't get a chance to hook up my cable in recent days.
I did find Shawn's handy website of www.bmwvin.com which will now keep me from having to open up Esys to ensure I have a standard option.
As for the video coding, would it be in the realm of possibility to code an app for the iphone to decode video as its sent out through the USB cable? I know its possible on something like a Smart TV, but i'm assuming that's because the TV can actually decode video files..
