Also, are some of them painted Steel Gray and Topaz Blue? I thought those colors were discontinued

According to the brochure that I got last saturday when I visited the closed room preview of the 1-series you can get these metallic paints:

- Saphirschwarz
- Sparkling graphite
- Havanna
- Sydneyblue
- Sonora
- Quartzblau
- Titansilber

Non metallic paint colors are:
- Schwarz
- Japanrot
- Nautikblau
- Alpinweiss

This is what the metallic paints look like. (I haven't got a flatbed scanner so I had to make a picture of the page)

Why do they all have license plates?

They are the first production cars that are being sent to the dealers for presentation. A week ago, some customers received an email inviting them for a test drive, which is to be held sometime this month.

OMW, the 1er looks amazing. Every pic I see looks better and better.
As soon as it arrives in South Africa, I'm gonna be da 1st person to test drive it. Apparently it's being released here the same time as the UK.

I'm not sure which colour I prefer, the blue is very nice, but my Mom's 525i (E60) is blue, my Dad's 528i (E39) is blue, and my current car (Clio) is, you guessed it, Blue! All 3 cars are metallic blue.
The car at the top, in the middle, is that silver grey? It's quite nice. What ever happened to that Silvery Blue colour shown in this (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53567) thread?

Anyways, I like all the colours, black especially, just I find that black gets those micro fine scratches so easily from cleaning and every day use. Maybe silver grey is the way to go!

We wants it, we wants .... the preciousssssssssssss 1er :bawling:

Thanks for the pics, keep em comin ;)

A few other nice pics from a Swedish site. It is certain that BMW has a winner here and that the "1" is going to be a smash hit in Europe. This car seems to be everything it's advertised to be.

Cannot wait for the Coupe to come our way....

you know i didn't really look that closely at the headlights until you mentioned that.... and then i looked at it from this angle.
http://www.autopower.se/reportage/1serien/dealershow/4.jpg

from most angles it's ok, but from almost head-on, it's very deer-in-the-headlights looking ... (pardon the pun)

Compared to other newer BMW headlights (minus the X3 of course), these are tame and pleasant.

Well, the new Audi A3 sportback is apparently headed for the States. If seems to in the same category as the new 1 5-door and looks pretty nice to. If it does well, it may make BMW NA rethink its position... or not?
