Telephone Handset Problem

Hi All

I have a BMW telephone handset built into the rear armrest. Its a simple plastic wired handset the version is HA107 V1

I have managed to fix the sim card holder and fitted my new sim card.

I can make and receive calls but cant hear anything. i think the handset may be faulty.

before I go and buy a new handset has anyone had this problem before? is there a setting in the i-drive or a quick fix. just seems odd that just the earpiece is not working

its at max! The incomming call alert sounds via the box but nothing is heard via the handset...people can hear me but i cant hear them, just seems dead :(

I can't remember how it's connected now, is it an RJ11 type connection..?

If you call the speaking clock (if you have that service there) and twist/fiddle with the cable, do you get any sound glitching from the speaker (could be a broken wire in the chord)
Can you source another 7 owner and borrow another?

If it was me, I'd borrow another handset and if it still had the problem, then the GSM phone module itself would be my next line of enquiry.
