You sir, have asked a question that most members on here still wonder about.

The MTEC V3 vs. the Umnitza ICE VXX.

In this case, I would say go with the MTEC as they seem to be the more popular choice amongst everyone on here!

Ahhh eBay, I don't typically do my shopping for auto parts from there. Due to their refund and return policies most sellers have. And the turn around time for exchanges is the worst.

Just ordered it from Umnitza!

& Thank you quarterto8!

I PM'd Umnitza regarding my order and they PM'd me back asking me this question:

"Could you double check if you already have a T10 or a Festoon type? "

Can anyone tell me what type do I have? I have no clue...

Your E65 is pre-facelist, correct? Then chances are you have the T10 bulb.

Difference between the two is that Festoon is longitudinal type of bulb whereby it has the positive and negative connectors on each end while T10 bulb is more like spherical in shape. The positive/ negative connector ends are on the same side close to each other.

Remove your license plate bulbs and double check.

Ur right prefacelift has t10 they are connected to the tube or some sort of it need to take those out and the bulb is going to be on the end of it. Twist and pull.

True true.....

Keep in mind though; it’s not just any other T10 or Festoon bulb that you can install. It has to be ‘BMW E65/E66 compatible’ bulb with error eliminator. Otherwise, after the install, you’ll end up with both right and left license plate lamp malfunction display on the iDrive.

However, if you have access to BMW programming tool (NCSExpert), you can still purchase whatever bulb you want and disable the cold/hot bulb monitoring in order to get rid of the error display. That’s what I did.

Not only that, but I don't even bother to type "error free", and all my results come back with error free bulbs. I seriously doubt anyone is still selling any bulbs that will produce an error anymore.
