Thanks to all for all these great info, I have my cable and software ready, but a little confuse about a key piece of info. In Jan 2012 my 2012 BMW 535i with technology, premium sound and premium package was delivered. My question is when using ESys to connect what would be my target,F001 or F010 , what determine this. Reading my profile from the usb drive i-step F001-11-09-501, does this mean my target should be f001 ?. Thanks

The USB xml Export I-Step seems to incorrectly report F001 instead of F010 in many cases. What is actually on your car is probably F010-11-09-501, which is ISTA/P 2.43.
Most people using E-Sys are doing simple FDL Coding, or VO Changes with a full Module Code.
I have yet to hear of anyone using E-Sys to do a full Integration Level program of their car and flashing all the firmware of all ECU's, although it seems it is possible to do. If you were to do it, you best know what you are doing, and have the car on a battery charger as it will take several hours. The Target Integration Level would be based on the PSDZdata files (the source) you are using with E-Sys, which is likely 46.1, so the Integration Level would be F010-12-03-511. Fair warning...proceed with great caution.

Ok...I just reread your original post, and I think I confused what you were asking in terms of Target. The Target for simple "Connection" purposes will be F10 (Not F10 Direct). The Target for Integration Level purposes, if you were to go down that road, based on ISTA/P 46.1 data files would be F010-12-03-511, although I do not think you need to concern yourself with the latter. Sorry if I confused or scared you. :)

You did scare me, but i was confused by my istep. You clear that up, I am only trying to code the standard stuff that I read here. Based on the package options in my car do you think the HUD, Power Torque code will work, also can I use 46.3 or I have to use 46.1 ?. Thanks again.

So long as the PSDZdata files are from a newer ISTA/P version than the version on your car is, you should be able to use them to code your car. Since you seem to have ISTA/P 2.43 on your car, either v46.1 or v46.3 PSDZdata will be fine. You should not have any problems with the HUD Coding, and the Sport Displays (Power and Torque) are 50/50. They work on some N55 Engines (535i) but not on any N66 Engines (550i).
