I purchased my car a little over a year ago and the chrome trim under the windows was already like this. I have tried a variety of products to "fix" this, but to no avail. It seems like the discoloration is under a clear coating they use on the trim pieces. It may be I only have the option to replace the trim or black it out unless someone has had success fixing this. Thanks.

Mine to. Same thing on our Mercedes. I read about a polish for this but the article was in Japanese so never found out what it was....

I have the same problem, I didn't notice it until I took my car threw an automatic washer. So maybe the pressure from the washer and that ridiculous jet dryer...JMO

Try a soft rubbing compound. The discolor is from soap under spray wax used at the car wash

Tried polishing out with various products- It's as if the discoloration is under a protective layer as the polishing had no effect.

It's getting around that time where our "old" cars need little cosmetic repairs like this. I have the sports pack so my trim is black. I replaced mine about a yr ago each trim is about $75 from the dealer. Easy install snap of snap on.

After considering wrapping them in black vinyl, I decided to purchase these chrome pieces from the dealer, $285 for all four pieces.. I thought it was a bit pricey, but it sure looks great.

I bet it does! Do you still have the part numbers? Specifically for the left rear door piece- that's the one that's the worst- I think I can live with the others. How hard were they to remove and replace?

I might still have the part numbers, let me know if you still need them.
