View Full Version : Windshield replacement
Came out from work today and evidently a rock had earlier hit the windshield and I have about a foot long crack. With the sensors built into the windshield how can I just have a regular glass company replace it ? It's an insurance company issue. Don't I have to take it to a b m w dealership? 2004 530i

It does take a special windshield but any competent auto glass company can install it; the key word here is "competent".

Just had mine done 2 weeks ago. Call your dealer and most likely they outsource their glass work. The installer told me if I brought it to BMW they would add on 20%. He met me at my office and was in and out in 45 minutes. $415 for an aftermarket windshield. Rain Sensor works fine. If you have the HUD it will definitely be more expensive though.

Quotes like this, is what makes me love this site.:D Valid point nonetheless!
Thanks for the help guys. Don't mind paying for my car repair but refuse to get taken to the cleaners for those repairs!

If Techniglass is in your area take it there. They replaced my 545i windshield in UT. You do not need to go to the dealer at all!
