Help ... I changed my oil this morning for the first time.
I found out the previous owner did not have the part that covers or protects the Oil filter housing area.
I think it should be like a door or plate that covers that area.

Does anyone know what this is called or better yet a part number?

Thanks in advance!

From realoem.com / front axle / front axle suspension --> http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=GN63&mospid=47785&btnr=31_0624&hg=31&fg=05

Part #5, reinforcement plate. Junkyard item...don't buy it retail.

This is what it looks like under the car.
I seem to be missing a bolt on top as well.
The previous owner must have made a make shift plastic cover.
I am glad he or she didn't use duct tape.

Too bad I cant just order the door thats missing.

Thanks you for the part number.

Oh, sorry, no door there, just an open hole. The only thing you are missing is the bolt. =)

Keith whats the plastic piece called that protects underneath the front part called? I had that remove when I live in NY an they never put it back on. So my hoses toward the front are exposed? Thanks

For rookie's big plastic piece, it shows it on that diagram, but not a part number/price... I think that's on another one.
