My 545i wont connect with BMW Assist anymore. The dealer says I need a new transceiver. I contacted the Bavarian Auto Recycling shop but I need the part number. Id like to know: What is the transceiver? Where is the transceiver located? What is the part number (if its a general part and not specific to my car)? What does the transceiver do? Does it sound like the dealer is telling the truth? How much will this cost (dealer is quoting $700)? Is this a simple repair or should I stick with the dealer? Thanks for the responses!

Not sure if the below will fit your car. You can call the company in the ad. But it will at least give you a general idea...

Do you mean the Telematic Control Unit (TCU)?

Not the same unit. The TCU is to enable the bluetooth.
