Hello Guys,

I got the cable, and 32 bit windows 7, finally installed the software... and it was communicating fine with the car (E60). However, I was not able to follow some of the steps, therefore; I abandoned the procedure and thought should do some more research :). I have been looking, but didnt really find the answer to my questions :).

1. Where I got stuck was creating another profile using "ExpertMode". I did that, but that new profile always pops up an error when trying to get the VIN of the car (even though, "ExpertMode" and some other profiles communicate with the car without any problem (and I googled that error msg, didnt get anything :().

I saw online that a number of people are using few profiles that were included within the installation, instead of creating a new one. My question is, what is the purpose of creating a new profile, instead of using the old ones?

2. I would like to know what would be my exit strategy if I mess up :). Some people are talking about using a blank .MAN file, and some are saying that is the wrong way of doing that? What should I do?

3. Creating backup??? Do I have to backup the FSW_PSW.MAN file everytime I read an ECU (before actually modifying it)? Its not very clear...

Will really appreciate your help and support :).

Thanks.

Hmm. I bought a laptop off of the 'bay pre-loaded with everything, and haven't had any issues at all. Have you asked on the forum link below?
