View Full Version : Umnitza M Tech Bumper Adjustment

I recently had a road debris accident with my 545i. Bumper needed to be replaced and I decided to freshen up the look with an Umnitza M Tech bumper. Love the look.

From the photos you can see the bumper sits too low by about 1/8. When I discussed it with the body shop they indicated that this was as high as they could adjust it. I told them it needs further adjustment and will be taking it back in Monday.

I was hoping someone who has hung their own or works in a body shop that installs them regularly has run across this problem and knows what the fix is.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like you need to hike it up a bit in the section that attaches along the edge of the hood. Like a face lift :-), just a little tuck. I think there are 4 screws there, maybe stretch the holes forward and pull bumper back 1/4 inch.
Otherwise looks great, congrats. I love that look, really improves the demeanor of the car. I changed my kidney grill inserts with a set that has black fins and retains chrome in the flange. Makes it look a bit grumpy without losing the trademark kidney shape.

Thanks for your reply. We'll take a look at those screws and see if a little plastic surgery is in order.

Your black and chrome kidney inserts sound cool. Please post a picture if you can.

I too have a bit of a gap between the hood and the bumper.

Check out this thread. It explains the reason for the gap and how to fix it.

Got pointed to the same info from the 5forum.net and went over today to the dealer and purchased the proper absorbers identified in the post to fit the M-Tech bumper cover.

Many thanks to all for your posts !!

You have good eyes.
Unmatched paint was the first thing I saw when I picked it up, even before the gap. They will be reshooting the bumper paint Wednesday when they install the proper absorbers for the M-Tech bumper.

Do you have the part numbers of the foam inserts and the mTech brake ducts?

Thanks man. You're right, it does change the whole car. I ordered one of those M5 type rear spoilers also, which they are putting on tomorrow. Can't believe the delivery on the spoiler - 6 days out of Taiwan and the paint job is a dead-on match for my car, for $98.
