Are those tips removable? Machine washable?

I would not remove them. all we do is rinse them out with clean water. so far over 300 plus wheels and no issues.

Are you able to get to the wheel behind the caliper?

which wheels and type of car do you have the small ones do well but it will all depend on what wheels and brakes you are running.
