AT&T announced it will shut off its GSM and EDGE 2G voice and data networks by early 2017. The news, which came via a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, impacts roughly 8.4 million people or 12% of its current customer base that still use the mobile operatorís 2G networks and older devices.

The time to 2017 is an eternity in the digital world. Who knows what it will look like by then. :rofl:

I notice at times my voice call will migrate down to EDGE or GSM in areas where I have poor signal strength. Hopefully by then Voice over LTE will be the norm.
