Its called "The original" The BMW 3 series Concept, Technology and Design by Dr. Hans-Hermann Braess ( a former BMW engineer). It covers all aspects from chassis, transmssioins, suspension, electronics from the 2002 through e46 and is very nicely printed. Its produced by BMW mobile traditions and is part of the "BMW dimensions" series. Several chapters are written by current BMW engineers in charge of the e46 platform, and there's much more in-depth technical info and diagrams that I've seen in other boooks. To give you an idea of the level of detail, there's a graph that shows the operation of the 330i's exhaust flap based on gear, engine load and engine speed.

I'm very excited---i've been wanting this book for 3 years. I first saw this book in its original German-language form in the BMW museum in Munich 3 years ago. Here's the roginal German version:

I asked if they had an English language version and was told no. In the January Roundel, Mike Miller responded to a read question about good BMW related books. He mentioned this one (but in an English version) and provided a BMW part number. I finally got aound to ordering it from Circle BMW for $49-- and it came today!! :)

If you're interested, the BMW part number for the English version is:

01 09 0 027 482

Would be nice if there is a pdf version to download. Can you turn it into a pdf? :)
