I live in Denver Colorado, and I was in Irvine California last week and I saw a 2004 X5 that was between a 4.6 Red and a 4.8 Red. I asked my dealer about it but he didn't know anything, and I went on BMWusa to look for it but I found nothing. Does anyone have any info on it? It kinda looks like the Red on the new 330CI's.

IIRC the 4.6 and 4.8, the 330ZHP and M3 (as well as M Z3s) all have the same red called Imola Red. I know the one at Irvine you're referring to, and that's Imola.

The only other reds currently available from BMW are Electric Red on 3ers, Bright Red on Z4s and Chiaretto Red on 6 and 7ers.

Imola Red, Carbon Black and Estoril Blue are available on X5 3.0 and 4.4 models for a $2500 fee. They're regularly orderable "Priority 1" options, meaning that the dealer can order one without having to pull any strings.

Imola Red rocks no matter what chassis it is on.

I was REALLY close to being able to get Imola for FREEEE on my wagon back in 01. That would have ROCKED.

I believe it's still a standard non-metallic color in Canada on all 330s.

Now that I think about it, the one at Irvine BMW is not a is.

I'm excited to hear that I can order the Imola Red and Estroil Blue but $2,500 is alot. Myprice range is the 3.0i, so if I order, how long will it take? Can I special order the 4.6is interior? If so, how much?

Yeah the Imola Red in Irvine made me jealous.

Nope, it's a 4.4

If you look on their website, you'll see that they have this Imola 4.4, as well as a bunch of 3.0's and 4.4's in Carbon Black.

The paint is the only part of the "is" package that is easily orderable on non-"is" models. While it might be possible to get the rest of the stuff, it'll cost you dearly, and will probably require significant effort.

No, that's Flamenco Red (and it's much nicer).

speaking of Imola Red...how rare are Imola Red E36 M3's?

Ooh, that could be NICEE. Entirely possible, since that color was available during the latter years of the E36M3.

There was a Imola non-M E46 coupe at the SoCalEuro event a month before Bimmerfest this year. It looked great from 100ft. When I went to check it out, it was very clearly obvious that it was a respray... and a piss-poor one at that. Such a waste of a great color.

Wow, that IS nice. Helps that it looks brand-new, too.

It's clearly a US-spec car, so it's not an official Individual car, either.

Anyone have any Imola Red or Estroil Blue pictures that aren't 4.6is? Possibly the one in Irvine?

OK, that Imola Red is giving me car color envy. Just what I needed!

I'm planning on not taking turning 40 (in 2006) not very well  . It's always better to plan ahead than to have to panic at the end.

My lease on my TiSilver X5 will but up that year, too. Maybe I'll start imagining my first mid-life crisis (I'm planning on not taking turning 50 even worse) as being quieted with a Imola Red X5. Perhaps I'll start saving for the increased insurance and speeding tickets now!
