Yes, that's the new M Kit for the 1 Series.

The mouth is what does it. If it were a little less overhangy, more like the E46 M-tech nose, it'd look great.

This new styling "language" that BMW is designing into their new cars is getting kind of desperate. Is like they are trying too hard to be in the automotive styling cutting edge, like design students in a scholarship contest.

This is the worst M kit that I have ever seen, worst than the one in the Compact. :thumbdwn:

I personally don't think it's ugly (especially given the second set of pics)...a little loud and "look at me!" maybe, but like I said...the young uns will love it.

They're not trying to appeal to your, *ahem,* more mature tastes :D

It definitely just protrudes too much, which makes it look like a cheap aftermarket bodykit. If we have to ask if it's a factory option because it looks so poorly integrated, isn't that a problem no matter who the target demographic is? Even the Subaru WRX Sti silly hood scoop/wing combo looks more integrated than this 1 series "aero" (really extra drag) package.

By the way, the Golf does look pretty darn good to me. :eeps:

i like the new cars but i think this is terrible especially with that black strip down the side

i'm 17 and i can't understand why people my age want there cars to stand out it only draws attention and in st. louis there are cops around every corner itching to give you ticket and you see a lot of cops following them, they' re already going to give you a ticket just for being a kid that is where a sleeper comes in

i have tinted windows so that cops can't see me and the only time i have gotten a ticket was when the windows were down with other teenagers in the car and and guess what the speed was 37 in a 35. cops suck why try to draw them too you doesn't make sense

Hmm, I had just assumed all that black was BMW trying to mask some minor cosmetic features with black tape. :dunno:

Is this someone's customized car or a test mule or what? I can't believe BMW would ever sell a car with blacked out kidney grills and so much tacky black everywhere (looks like someone used a marker on the car...).

The car in the pictures has masking tape. It is probably a test mule, which needs to be driven from here to there, but since the car is officialy not on the market yet, it's masked.

Man, I'm only 21 and that doesn't appeal to me. As mentioned by someone it would look better if the current M Technic kit were slapped on. That car looks tacky and I'm surprised that front bumper got approval from the higher-ups for a production car.

I don't mind the euro-side-bump-strip at all on most cars, but I just can't get over the way the body lines seem to sag down low on the sides on the 1-er, while the bump strip is a straight horizontal line overlayed on top of the saggy line.... It just doesn't look right to me.

If you look closely, that black strip is just tape designed to mask the lines of the car. The headlights are taped off, as is the C-pillar and the Hoffmeister kink.

FWIW, I think the rear-end is a little overdone, but it still looks better than any of the other 5-door hatches out there.

I quite agree. The design of new cars seems influenced by Japanese TV cartoons. Unfeasibly large eyes, too sharp edges, overstated anger due to lack of confidence etc. Sorry Bimmers, this 1 series looks like a fanatical copy of a Honda Civic type R. It is aiming to capture the market of Boy-racers. We know what they drive at the moment, so we can accurately stereotype the kind of driving to expect when we see a Type R/Mitsib Evo/Subaru Imp. and give them a wide berth.

Once they are in bimmers, all bimmers will get a bad (worse) name.

My gf thinks the Nissan Murano is a "smiley car." If the Murano is a smiley car, I don't know what this 1er is. I guess BMW is moving from the "clown nose" to the "clown face" car.

Even still, I'd buy one. :eeps:

Hello...

I don't know if anyone has confirmed the arrival of this package... it is possible that it will not be regularly available until next year. As soon as it is available in Germany, you should be able to get it in the Portuguese market as well.

By the way, what part of Portugal are you from?

I just made an assumption that it wouldn't be available, I wasn't sure. Regardless, it normally takes a while for these things to become regularly available. Until then, you can order the kit through your dealer and have them mount it.
