Hi Guys,
My 2008 750li is acting up lately.
When the voice navigation is turned on and giving me directions, my radio kept playing in the background. This is making it hard to hear my navigation lady.

I believe this wasn't the case before as the music would stop playing while the navigation lady is giving me instructions.

Anyone knows what is wrong?

Thanks,
Anthony

You can turn her up so you can hear her better.

But I like to know how this is suppose to be. Should the music be off when the voice navigation is speaking?

In my car the radio is still on with the satnav voice

Hmm, so this is normal?

Just press the volume down button on your steering wheel when she is talking. There is also an option in the idrive nav menu to shut her up (voice guidance).

When the navigation lady speaks, she is not to be interrupted.

In my e60,e65, and e63 all audio has cut out when the queen speaks.

If yours is not operating in this manner there is indeed a problem.

Yes, she can be very rude especially when you dont follow her directions.

its normal for other radio audio to play while satnav audio plays. The relative volume of voice can be adjusted with the volume control on the steering wheel. I just picked up my car from BMW dealer for service today and the service rep just confirmed its how its supposed to be. I would think it incorrect to mute other audio

It's kinda strange that some members here report different behavior on this matter. I am not 100% sure but I thought it wasn't behaving like that previously.

It is just like when my ph rings in the car, the music would stop and resume after the call ends. Why would nav any different?

Thanks,
Anthony

I thought it might be a nav01 thru nav03 but rkruz has a 2008 like yourself.

Stumped

During phone calls, incoming or outgoing, it does mute the radio in my car.

For Satnav maybe there are settings somewhere in Idrive to make it mute radio, but I like it the way it is now as the satnav voice is easily understood at the relative volume level its set at. I suppose if you have you radio very loud that would not work well.

I tried it again this evening. Satnav and radio audio mix together. I could not find anything in IDrive set up to mute radio during satnav voice. Phone does mutes the radio. Seems perfectly correct like that to me. Maybe its software version thing.

It does sounds like a different in software version. I have had BMW replace the i-drive knob and was told it has to be programmed in, not sure if they upgrade the software as well.

But I will bring it in as I like the way it was before.
