Replacing number badge on trunk

My dealer destroyed the back of my trunk when I took it in a while back. There was some clear coat coming off and they must of wet sanded and polished the trunk... anyway, looked like **** and I would get people asking "whats wrong with your trunk?"

I have a friend who's friend used to do a lot of bodywork and paint and offered to repaint my trunk. It now looks great but I have the "750Li" back on. I read that the automotive doubled sided tape works well, it's a white thick tape I bought from PepBoys for $7, but wondering from experience from anyone here, does that hold up well?

Also, anyone have a "template" to putting the numbers back on?

I have a quickset adhesive for the round emblem badge which should do the job fine, but it's to thin to fit into the grooves of the numbers.

Any suggestion on what tape/adhesive to use to reattach the "750Li" numbers? I bought this tape from PepBoys but is was to large and the numbers stick up to far and it's obvious with the white tape

I'm sure I'm not the first person who has had to reapply the digits but seems like finding the adhesive/tape is so difficult!

The make some 3m tape for it.. I have seen a local auto parts store.

If you can find it have him paint it and run buy any body shop and they should be able to hook you up.
