hey guys...

i've been looking into installing a car pc into my 2002 e65 735. iTs very early 2002..Feb i think is the date on most of the items (that info is from the hidden menu on the iDrive) Car is still pretty much stock except for a sub that I installed in boot. No bluetooth, pre-facelift MMI and ASK units. Stock tv tuner. DVD navigation (not working in my country though so its pretty useless)

I've looked around and found this:

http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/928

Has anyone tried it? Anything similar? Does it include audio or just video? Is it possible to get swtichable inputs on the MMI without such a part? I dont have trouble taking the car apart (been there...done that :) ) and messing around if someone could point me in the right direction.
I'm going for the carpc option since it seems to give me the most options for the fewest mods. But if anyone has any suggestions I'm willing to try them out. Maybe even do a DIY for others!

Audio is different story

I've done this in other cars and it's a great setup to have, the only issue is controls since in the E65/66 we don't have a touch-screen and it's going to be difficult to use the i-drive knob and a remote would be necessary.

Personally I'd stick an apple TV in the car, for video you can use a variety of modules that get DVD players onto the screen. As far as the audio goes, FM modulator is your cheapest bet, or a hardwired FM input.

thats a very teasing comment!:p
35$? how'd u manage to do that?!
i'm planning on doing the fm tuner mod...i could hook that up directly to th pc. as for the controls, i was thinking an external switch to flip between iDrive and pc and to control th pc i have a very small bluetooth keyboard with a touch pad thats more than enough for me

u have to tell me how to get video into the MMI :)

I anticipate the OP leaving us hanging on this $35 option.
